Por FactBox Admin

The Provincial Council of Palencia has published in the Official Provincial Gazette number 105, dated September 3, 2026, the summary of the Decree of August 25, 2026, calling for transport and residence grants for young students in the province for the 2026 fiscal year. The call, identified by the code BDNS 926487, is processed under a competitive bidding system and has a total budget of 100,000 euros.

The objective is to facilitate access to academic training for young people registered in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, compensating for travel and residence costs for those who pursued in-person studies at centers in Palencia and its province during the 2025-2026 academic year. The call is managed through the Provincial Council’s Youth Service.

Beneficiaries and requirements

Grants may be requested by young people born up to January 1, 1990, who were registered during the 2025-2026 academic year in municipalities of the province with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants and who provide proof of income for their family or cohabitation unit. Four groups are considered:

  • University students of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, or equivalent degrees in centers within the province, with at least 30 credits enrolled (24 in the final year) and 60% of credits passed.
  • Students of Baccalaureate or Vocational Training Cycles (Basic, Intermediate, and Higher) who have passed the course.
  • Students of the Official Language School of Palencia with a passing grade.
  • Students of the Professional Conservatory of Music of Palencia who have promoted to the next grade.

For the transport grant, it is required that there be no free school transport available or that its schedule be incompatible with the academic one, a circumstance that must be documented.

Grant amounts

Applicants may only opt for one type of grant. For transport, the amounts are set based on the kilometers between the municipality of registration and the educational center:

  • Up to 25 km: 400 euros.
  • More than 25 to 50 km: 500 euros.
  • More than 50 to 80 km: 600 euros.
  • More than 80 km: 700 euros.

For the Official Language School and the Conservatory of Music, transport is paid at a rate of 5 euros per kilometer, with a minimum of 200 and a maximum of 400 euros. The residence grant reaches a maximum of 1,200 euros, provided the expense is proven via a rental contract or a university residence invoice.

Budget and deadline

Of the 100,000 euros allocated in budget item 43.23117.48101.044 for 2026, 62,500 euros are destined for university students and 37,500 euros for students of Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, languages, and music. The application period is 20 business days from the day following the publication of the summary in the bulletin, and the annexes are available on the Diputación’s electronic office.

The call for applications represents direct support for thousands of young people in the province who, due to residing in small municipalities, must commute or move to the capital to continue their studies. With these grants, the Provincial Council of Palencia seeks to reduce the territorial gap in access to education and retain the young population in rural areas.
