The Provincial Council grants 67,898 euros to municipalities for sports revitalization

The Provincial Council of Badajoz has approved the first partial resolution of the open call for grants for the 2026 Sports Dynamization Program, granting aid of up to 900 euros to dozens of municipalities and smaller local entities in the province. The agreement, signed by president Raquel del Puerto Carrasco, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 167, dated September 1, 2026, via Announcement 3442/2026.

The resolution is issued under base 8.3 of the open call for grants destined for municipalities and smaller local entities within the framework of the Provincial Cooperation Plan, published in the provincial gazette on February 18, 2026. The managing body is the Functional Area of Cultural Identity, Sport and Youth, Social Welfare and International Cooperation, and the processing complies with the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, and the entity’s general grants ordinance.

Figures and budget items

The total amount granted in this first partial resolution amounts to 67,898.15 euros, distributed between two budget applications:

• 11/3410/46203/0300 (Sports Dynamization Program, municipalities): €61,849.68
• 11/3410/46803/0300 (Sports Dynamization Program, smaller local entities): €6,048.47

Most of the grants are set at 900 euros per activity, with some smaller amounts depending on the justification presented, such as the €885.91 for the XVII Solidarity Hiking Route of Carmonita or the €649.22 for the karate exhibition in Valdivia.

Subsidized activities

The grants finance a wide range of local sporting offers, with a particular emphasis on mountain events and hiking routes:

• Popular and mountain races, such as the Alconera 10K Race, the X Sierra María Andrés Trail in La Parra, or the IV Sierra de la Mesa Mountain Race in Valencia del Ventoso.
• Routes and marches, such as the VIII Las Tres Charcas Hiking Route in Esparragalejo or the Tartesos Route XII in Zalamea de la Serena.
• Football, padel, pétanque, and futsal tournaments and leagues, such as the III Sanserpádel League in Arroyo de San Serván or the XXXV José Luis Zafra Memorial in Zahínos.
• Adventure and multi-adventure activities, such as the Climbing Tower and Zip Line in Feria or the Aquatic Gymkhana in Corte de Peleas.
• Municipal sports schools and closing ceremonies, such as those in Lobón, Olivenza, and Villanueva del Fresno.

Beneficiaries and procedure

The city councils and smaller local entities included in this resolution meet all the requirements to be beneficiaries, are up to date with their tax obligations to the Diputación de Badajoz, and have provided complete and correct justification of expenses; therefore, the subsidies are considered justified. The resolution will be communicated to the Plenary of the Corporation in the next ordinary session.

Against this agreement, which concludes the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the president of the Diputación within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the competent Contentious-Administrative Court within two months of its publication.

The resolution consolidates provincial support for grassroots sporting activity, guaranteeing resources for small municipalities and smaller local entities in the province to maintain races, routes, and tournaments that form the backbone of the social and sporting life of their residents.
