The Provincial Council brings the awarding of the MUBAG contract under the jurisdiction of the Culture Department

The president of the Provincial Council of Alicante has, for reasons of urgency, assumed the competence to award contract A6O-052/2026, regarding the public service and cultural promotion of the Alicante Museum of Fine Arts (MUBAG), and has delegated it to the provincial deputy for Culture. The decision was adopted via resolution no. 4,096, dated September 12, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante no. 179, dated September 21, 2026, within section III, Local Administration, in announcement 7066.

The measure is based on the delegation of powers that the Presidency itself had transferred to the Governing Board via resolution no. 3,402, dated August 4, 2023. That ordinary distribution of competencies included the awarding of contracts, such that the Presidency now specifically recovers that faculty for a particular file and reassigns it to a single-member body.

Immediate executivity and Plenary control

The resolution is executive from its adoption, without waiting for publication in the bulletin, which occurs on September 21, 2026. The announcement appears signed by the president and by the secretary general of the provincial corporation.

The decision directly affects the management of MUBAG, the reference provincial museum in the city of Alicante, and the companies competing for contract A6O-052/2026, which from now on will have their award resolved by the deputy of Culture instead of by the Governing Board.
