La Diputación aprueba 762.847 euros para abrir parques de bomberos en Priego y Cañete

The Provincial Council of Cuenca has given final approval to the credit modification that will allow for the opening of fire stations in Priego and Cañete, with a total allocation of 762,847.84 euros. The agreement, adopted by the Plenary in an ordinary session held on September 7, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cuenca number 104, dated September 9, 2026, under announcement NO. 2127.

The measure, processed as file 1865101T SC-CE 7-2026, improves emergency coverage in the province and is fully financed through the budget execution contingency fund.

A process that began in July

The credit modification file No. 7/2026 of the Council’s general budget for the 2026 fiscal year was provisionally approved by the Plenary in an ordinary session on July 29, 2026, in the forms of extraordinary credit and credit supplement. Said agreement was published in the official provincial gazette number 86, announcement 1849.

The file was subject to public consultation for fifteen days, between July 30 and August 19, 2026. The claims submitted by interested parties were resolved by the Provincial Corporation in the ordinary session of September 7, 2026, at which time final approval was adopted.

Breakdown of the modification

The budget modification is structured into two modalities, both destined for personnel expenses:

  • Credit supplement (chapter 1, personnel expenses): €721,931.92
  • Extraordinary credit (chapter 1, personnel expenses): €40,915.92
  • Total file amount: €762,847.84

The financing comes from cancellations or reductions of credits from other applications, specifically from the budget execution contingency fund (chapter 5), for the same amount of €762,847.84.

Deadlines and appeals

Against the final approval, interested parties may directly file a contentious-administrative appeal within two months from the publication of the announcement, in accordance with article 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13, of the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction. The filing of the appeal shall not, by itself, suspend the effectiveness of the contested agreement, as established by article 171.3 of the Recast Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5.

The announcement is signed by the Deputy for Economy and Finance of the Provincial Council of Cuenca.

Impact for the province

The opening of the fire stations in Priego and Cañete represents a significant reinforcement of the province’s emergency network, bringing firefighting and rescue services closer to regions that until now depended on longer travel times. With this investment, financed by own resources through the contingency fund, the Provincial Council expands its emergency response capacity and improves the security of the municipalities in the area.
