The Provincial Council extends the deadline for the Empleo Cerca training scholarships

The Vice Presidency of the Institute of Employment and Socioeconomic and Technological Development (IEDT) of the Provincial Council of Cádiz has approved the extension of the deadline for the resolution and notification of the granting of subsidies under a competitive bidding process destined for training scholarships within the framework of the “Empleo Cerca” project. The extension is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cádiz number 161, dated August 21, 2026, and affects dozens of municipalities in the province.

The measure, adopted through Decree SCIYE-00129-2026, dated July 17, signed by the Vice President of the IEDT, Andrés Clavijo Ortiz, is part of the Employment, Education, Training and Social Economy Program (ÉFESO Program) for the 2021-2027 programming period, co-financed 85% by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) of the European Union.

Extended deadlines by municipality

The resolution distinguishes two deadlines according to the territorial scope of the training scholarships:

• Municipalities of the province (except Cádiz capital): until November 5, 2026, inclusive.
• Municipality of Cádiz: until December 5, 2026, inclusive.

The extension affects a wide list of localities, including Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María, Chiclana de la Frontera, Puerto Real, Algeciras (including its disadvantaged areas), La Línea de la Concepción, Los Barrios, San Roque, Tarifa, Jimena de la Frontera, Castellar de la Frontera, Barbate, Conil de la Frontera, Medina Sidonia, Vejer de la Frontera, Arcos de la Frontera, Villamartín, Ubrique, Olvera, Chipiona, and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, among others.

Regulatory framework and processing

The call is governed by the provisions of articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, which requires the publication of the summary of the call in the official gazette and its submission to the National Subsidies Database (BDNS). The extension decree, signed in Cádiz on July 27, 2026, also orders the publication of this agreement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cádiz and the submission of the summary to the BDNS, in compliance with the transparency regulations for public subsidies.

Impact for beneficiaries

The extension of the resolution and notification period provides more leeway for the provincial administration to process and resolve scholarship applications for the “Empleo Cerca” project, a program aimed at labor insertion and the improvement of employability in the municipalities of Cádiz. Interested parties and beneficiary entities should remain attentive to the notification of the resolution, which will occur before the new deadlines depending on the municipality in question.
