The Provincial Council of Tarragona announces a music teacher position in Tortosa.

The Diputació de Tarragona has published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOPT), on 1 August 2026, the official call to select a person to fill a position as a music language teacher at the Escola i Conservatori de Música de Tortosa. This resolution, issued under decree number 2026-0005754 and signed by the deputy secretary Alberto José Arnau Esteller on 14 August, responds to the public employment offer approved by the Governing Board in December 2023.

The position, identified by code L103072, is permanent employment with a part-time schedule. The selection process is conducted under the competitive examination and merit-based competition model for the free-access track, with a total score distributed as 60% for the examination phase and 40% for the merit assessment phase. Applicants must submit their application within a period of 20 business days starting from the day after the last publication of the extract in the DOGC.

Academic and language requirements

To be eligible for this position, candidates must certify a series of essential requirements at the time the application deadline closes:

• Hold the higher degree in music.
• Certify the Catalan proficiency level certificate (C1) or an equivalent qualification.
• For non-Spanish nationals or those not from Spanish-speaking countries, a Spanish level of C2 or higher is required.
• Submit a negative certificate from the Central Registry of Sexual Offenders.
• In the case of foreign qualifications, they must be homologated by the competent Ministry or recognised as legally equivalent.

Selection system and exercises

The examination phase, worth 60 points, consists of three eliminatory exercises in order:

1. A general and cross-cutting topic that will interrelate different points of the syllabus, with a maximum duration of two hours.
2. A test to assess the applicant’s teaching, practical and technical ability, divided into three parts.
3. A language proficiency exercise (Catalan and Spanish) reserved for those who cannot certify the required certification levels established in the bases.

The merit assessment phase will award up to 40 points for applicants’ academic and professional merits, including additional training and prior teaching experience in music education centres.

Application procedure and remuneration

Applications may be submitted electronically through the Diputació de Tarragona Electronic Office or in person at the authorised registration offices in Tarragona (Passeig de Sant Antoni, 100) and Tortosa (Carrer Santa Anna, 3). Examination fees have been set at 35 euros, with exemptions available for persons with a disability of 33% or more, job seekers, or members of large families.

The gross annual salary associated with this position is €23,830.63, in accordance with the salary table in force for the year 2026. This call represents a key opportunity to strengthen the musical training offer in the city of Tortosa and ensure pedagogical continuity in one of the reference centres in the region.
