The Provincial Council approves nominative grants to restore local heritage
Por FactBox Admin

The Governing Board of the Provincial Council of Tarragona approved, in the session of September 8, 2026, a package of nominative grants destined for the restoration of historical heritage and the improvement of municipal facilities in various municipalities of the district. The agreements were published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on September 15, 2026 (CVE 2026-08474, pp. 1-4), in the form of an extract from the General Secretariat.
The grants, corresponding to the 2026 annual budget, are granted directly and nominatively to city councils and local entities, without competitive bidding, and aim to finance specific actions for heritage conservation and facility maintenance. The document does not detail the individual amounts of each grant, which are recorded in the corresponding administrative files.
Restoration of historical heritage
The bulk of the grants is concentrated on the recovery of heritage elements of historical and architectural value. The beneficiaries and the approved actions are as follows:
- Vilaverd City Council: restoration and consolidation of the envelope of the Guixera del Tòfol.
- Falset City Council: restoration of the Portal del Bou.
- Xerta City Council: structural consolidation and roof replacement of the Molí de l’Assut.
Improvement of municipal facilities
A second line of aid is destined for the improvement and maintenance of facilities and infrastructures owned by the municipality or local entities:
- Tortosa City Council: drafting of the technical project for the improvement of the painting and finishes of the facade of the Tortosa Municipal Market.
- Vinícola i Secció de Crèdit Sant Isidre de Nulles, CLL: humidity repairs in the tasting room of the Winery and structural improvements to the Nulles Cooperative Winery.
Other agreements of the session
The same Governing Board approved other nominative grants of a social and cultural nature, such as those granted to the Red Cross of Tortosa and Tarragona, the Food Bank, Caritas Diocesana de Tortosa, the Proa Foundation, and the Association Si Jo Puc, Tu També EPILEP. It was also agreed to call for a permanent labor position for an auxiliary technician via competitive examination (Call 25-014 PI) and the awarding of the dog-assisted therapy service for the Provincial Council’s special education centers.
The nominative grants for local heritage reinforce the financial capacity of small and medium-sized municipalities in the district, which often lack sufficient own resources to face the conservation of historical elements such as the Portal del Bou in Falset or the Molí de l’Assut in Xerta. With these grants, the Provincial Council of Tarragona consolidates its role in supporting the local community and the preservation of the territory’s heritage legacy.
