La Consejería de Educación nombra a 550 funcionarios docentes en prácticas

The Department of Education of the Principality of Asturias has appointed probationary civil servants for the candidates who passed the competitive examination and merit phases of the selection process convened by the Resolution of December 18, 2025 (BOPA of January 7, 2026). The decision is detailed in the Resolution of August 31, 2026, signed by the counselor Eva Ledo Cabaleiro and published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) No. 174 of September 9, 2026 (official reference 2026-07357).

The appointment affects approximately 550 candidates from the teaching bodies referred to in Organic Law 2/2006, of May 3, on Education, both for entry and for the acquisition of new specialties. The probationary phase aims to verify the teaching aptitude of those who have passed the selection tests, and its regulation is approved in the same resolution.

Affected bodies and specialties

The appointments are distributed between the Body of Professors and Performing Arts (code 0593) and the Body of Teachers (code 0597), with the following specialties:

  • Professors and Performing Arts: composition, piano, and piano repertoire for instruments.
  • Teachers: early childhood education, foreign language (English), physical education, music, therapeutic pedagogy, hearing and language, and primary education.

The largest volume of positions corresponds to early childhood education, primary education, therapeutic pedagogy, and hearing and language, which concentrate the majority of the appointed candidates.

Effects and duration of the probation period

The appointment as a probationary civil servant has economic and administrative effects from September 1, 2026. Candidates must provide effective service for at least three months and one day between the date of appointment and June 30, 2027, and complete the training course for newly incorporated teachers, with a duration of at least 20 hours. The appointment as career civil servants will be effective as of September 1, 2027.

The resolution creates a qualifying commission that must be constituted within ten calendar days of its publication, which will organize the training and integration activities, appoint those who will serve as tutors, and evaluate the candidates at the end of the process. Each candidate will be tutored by a career civil servant designated upon the proposal of the center’s management.

Postponements and repetitions

Along with the appointments, the resolution resolves particular situations:

  • The postponement of the internship phase for one academic year is granted to the applicant Suárez González, Carmela (foreign language specialty: English), for duly justified reasons.
  • The repetition of the internship phase, for one single time, is agreed upon for the applicants Iglesias Díez, Carlos and Suárez Suárez, Fabio, who were rated as “not fit” in the resolution of June 25, 2026.

The final evaluation will be carried out with a rating of “fit” or “not fit,” and those who do not pass the phase may join the selected candidates in the following selection process to repeat it for one single time.

Relevance of the measure

The publication of this resolution represents a decisive step for hundreds of candidates who, after passing the competitive examinations and merit-based selection, now begin their internship period in Asturian educational centers. The approved regulation establishes the framework for tutoring, training, and evaluation of this phase, and its correct development will determine the definitive appointment as career civil servants starting in September 2027, which strengthens the teaching staff of the Principality’s educational system.
