La Autoridad Portuaria delega en su presidenta la prórroga de Astilleros Canarios

The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas has delegated to its president the authority to resolve the request for a three-year extension of the public domain concession of Functional Area 7 of the service area of the Port of Las Palmas, held by Astilleros Canarios, S.A. The agreement was adopted in the session of October 8, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 124, dated October 16, 2026, with reference 2108560 and resolution number 3.318.

The agreement of the Board of Directors

The Port Authority of Las Palmas publishes the announcement of the Resolution of October 8, 2026, by which the Board of Directors delegates to the Presidency the authority to resolve the request submitted by Astilleros Canarios, S.A. The company is interested in a substantial modification, by way of extension, of the concession term of the public domain concession it occupies at the Muelle Gran Canaria, Functional Area 7 (formerly Functional Area 6) of the service area of the Port of Las Palmas.

The authorized use of the plot is the “Storage of materials and parts and performance of propeller maintenance work and small repairs,” an activity of an industrial nature and port services linked to naval maintenance.

The agreement of the Board of Directors comprises the following points:

  • Delegate to the President of the Port Authority of Las Palmas the authority to resolve the request from Astilleros Canarios, S.A.
  • The requested extension amounts to THREE (3) YEARS of the concession term.
  • The legal basis invoked is article 82.2 b) of the TRLPEMM (Recast Text of the State Ports and Merchant Marine Law).
  • Resolutions issued by delegation must expressly indicate this circumstance and shall be considered adopted by the delegating body.
  • The delegation shall take effect from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province.

Background of the concession

The concession was granted to Astilleros Canarios, S.A. by Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas dated November 3, 2017, for the previously mentioned purpose of storage of materials and parts and propeller maintenance work and small repairs.

The resolution now published does not yet resolve the merits of the case: it is limited to transferring the authority to decide on the extension to the Presidency. The announcement is made public in accordance with the provisions of article 9.3 of Law 40/2015, of October 1, on the Legal Regime of the Public Sector, which requires the publication of delegations of authority.

The document appears signed in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on October fourteenth, two thousand twenty-six, by the Director, Francisco Javier Trujillo Ramírez.

Publication and effects

The announcement is inserted in the section I. State Administration, under the heading Ports of Las Palmas, on page 17786 of the provincial bulletin. The delegation shifts the final decision from the collegiate body—the Board of Directors—to the Presidency of the port authority, which concentrates the resolution of the file in a single body and streamlines its processing.

The extension affects a plot in the port service area dedicated to naval maintenance industrial activity; therefore, its resolution directly impacts the continuity of business activity at the Muelle Gran Canaria and the productive fabric linked to the port.
