The Provincial Court of Álava publishes the provisional list of jury candidates
Por FactBox Admin

The Provincial Court of Álava has published the provisional list of jury candidates for the biennium from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2028, with nearly 290 people selected across the province. The announcement, signed by the Justice Administration lawyer Juan Luis Sanchón Martínez on October 1, 2026, is disseminated in the Official Gazette of the Historical Territory of Álava (BOTHA) number 123, dated October 26, 2026, under reference 2026-02981.
The list occupies 17 pages of the gazette, within section IV, Administration of Justice. Each person is identified by the code and name of their municipality of residence, their two surnames and their first name, followed by a partially hidden four-digit numerical code.
The list results from the draw held on September 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Courtroom number 1 of the Provincial Court, at Avenida Gasteiz 18 in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The call was signed by the Provincial Delegation of the Electoral Census Office in Álava and published in BOTHA number 100, dated September 2, 2026 (2026-02506). The procedure is supported by article 13.2 of Organic Law 5/1995, of May 22, of the Jury Court, and royal decrees 1398/1995, 2067/1996, and 1271/2012.
Distribution by municipalities
The list is ordered by municipality code and covers 34 Alavese municipalities, from Alegría-Dulantzi to Lantarón. The capital concentrates the majority of those selected:
- Vitoria-Gasteiz: more than 200 candidates.
- Laudio/Llodio: 18.
- Amurrio: 10.
- Aguraín/Salvatierra: 4.
- Iruña Oka/Iruña de Oca: 4.
- Oyón-Oion: 3.
- Ayala/Aiara: 3.
The remaining included localities contribute one or two names each: Alegría-Dulantzi, Aramaio, Artziniega, Arratzua-Ubarrundia, Asparrena, Barrundia, Berantevilla, Campezo/Kanpezu, Zigoitia, Kuartango, Elciego, Iruraiz-Gauna, Labastida/Bastida, Laguardia, Lapuebla de Labarca, Arraia-Maeztu, Okondo, Erriberagoitia/Ribera Alta, Ribera Baja/Erriberabeitia, San Millán/Donemiliaga, Urkabustaiz, Valdegovía/Gaubea, Villabuena de Álava/Eskuernaga, Legutio, Zambrana, Zuia, and Lantarón.
Consultation and appeals process
Any resident can check if they have been included by locating their municipality and surnames in the list; the four-digit code allows for the exclusion of namesakes. As this is a provisional list, the jury court regulations provide for an appeals process, although this announcement does not detail the deadline or the receiving body.
Second publication of the same list
The list had already appeared in BOTHA number 120, dated October 19, 2026 (2026-02814), in a six-page version with identical content and the same signature date. This Monday’s delivery reproduces the complete list with the detail of the 17 pages.
The provisional list is the preliminary step before the final list, from which the individuals who will make up the jury courts in Álava for two years will be selected. With nearly 290 names at stake, checking the list affects a much larger number of families than the designees themselves.
