The AGENCY opens a call for 500,000 euros to support R&D&I and technology transfer in Asturias

The Agency for Science, Business Competitiveness and Innovation of Asturias, attached to the Regional Ministry of Science, Industry and Employment of the Principality of Asturias, has opened a call for aid to support the transfer of knowledge and technology, as well as the internationalisation of R&D&I in the region. The Resolution, dated 7 August 2026, has been published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) No. 158 of 17 August 2026, under reference Code 2026-06817, with identifier in the National Database of Subsidies (BDNS) number 924384.

The call, whose budget amounts to €500,000, has been authorised by Resolution of 25 May 2026, of the President of the AGENCY, charged to the budget of this public entity. The regulatory bases were approved by means of the Resolution of 2 July 2024, of the Regional Ministry of Science, Business, Training and Employment, which establishes the regulatory framework to promote transnational technology transfer and the internationalisation of R&D&I. The aid is intended to finance actions to be carried out during the 2026 and 2027 financial years.

Purpose and types of aid

The purpose of the call is to grant subsidies under competitive bidding to Asturian companies and research centres to support the transfer of knowledge and technology and the internationalisation of R&D&I through their participation in international programmes. Five types are contemplated:

• Type A: Transnational technology transfer.
• Type B: International missions (exclusive to business consortia, groupings or associations).
• Type C: Participation in international R&D&I proposals.
• Type D: Consultancy.
• Type E: Creation of innovative and technology-based fabric (spin-offs).

Types A, C and D are open to public research bodies, public universities, other public R&D centres, health entities linked to the National Health System, non-profit entities, Technology Centres and Technological Innovation Support Centres registered in accordance with Royal Decree 2093/2008, of 19 December, companies, and business consortia or associations.

Who can apply

Entities with a production facility in the Principality of Asturias may be applicants and beneficiaries, provided they are not disqualified from obtaining public subsidies and carry out R&D&I activity. In the case of beneficiary companies, they must have at least one employee or one partner with an employment relationship, full-time or equivalent. For modality B (international missions), only consortia, groupings or business associations with R&D&I projects among their activities may apply. Modality E (spin-off) admits the same entities as modalities A, C and D, except consortia and business associations.

Deadlines, requirements and documentation

The deadline for submitting applications begins on the day following the publication of the extract in the BOPA —that is, 18 August 2026— and ends on 30 September 2026, at 14:00 (mainland Spain time). The call was signed in Llanera on 7 August 2026 by the President of the ASTURIAN AGENCY for Science, Business Competitiveness and Innovation.

Impact on Asturian business and research fabric

This line of aid represents a firm commitment by the Government of the Principality to strengthen the competitiveness of Asturian productive fabric in a context of growing globalisation of research. The allocation of half a million euros seeks to boost the capacity of the region’s companies and research centres to compete in international R&D&I programmes, while strengthening the channels for technology transfer to the market. For small and medium-sized Asturian companies, the call represents an opportunity to access public funding that will allow them to make the leap to cross-border cooperation in innovation, a key factor in diversifying their productive base and creating skilled employment.
