The Valencian Academy appoints Mollà Villaplana as head of Linguistic-Technical Resources

The Presidency of the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua (AVL) has resolved call 2/2026 with the appointment by free designation of Maria Teresa Mollà Villaplana as head of the Linguistic-Technical Resources Unit. The decision is formalized in the Resolution of September 10, 2026, signed by the president Maria Àngels Francés Díez, and is published in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) no. 10456, of September 22, 2026, within section II, Authorities and Personnel, section B) Appointments and dismissals. The act is identified with the official reference DOGV-C-2026-29268.

The origin of the selection process

The position had been announced through the Resolution of May 13, 2026, of the Presidency of the AVL, published in the DOGV no. 10370, of May 26, 2026. It concerned the filling, via the system of free designation, of a vacant job position of civil servant nature, from the special administration or teaching sector and group A1, corresponding to call 2/2026.

Before resolving, the Presidency received the mandatory and binding report from the legal secretary general regarding the applications that met the requirements, and assessed the professional history of competencies and capabilities of the participants.

The awarded position and its conditions

The assigned position is number 6 and is detailed with the following characteristics:

• Designation: head of the Linguistic-Technical Resources Unit of the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua.
• Group and sector: group A1, special administration or teaching sector.
• Competency supplement: level 30.
• Position exercise supplement: AVL2.
• Awardee: Maria Teresa Mollà Villaplana, career civil servant of group A1 of the AVL, with DNI 4233**.

The merits supporting the designation

The resolution considers Mollà Villaplana to be the most suitable person due to her knowledge of the subject and the experience already demonstrated in the exercise of the functions of the announced position. The candidate is a civil servant of the AVL, where she has held the position of specialist technician in toponymy since 2010, performing the functions inherent to the position and providing advice to the Onomastics Section, which provides her with a deep knowledge of toponymy and onomastics, the main competencies of the institution.

Effects, entry into force and appeals

The termination of the successful candidate’s current position occurs ex officio on the same day as the publication of the resolution, the date on which it enters into force. The publication serves as notification, in accordance with Article 45.1.b of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations.

The appointment is adopted under Article 115.1 of Law 4/2021, of April 16, of the Generalitat, on the Valencian public service, and the powers attributed to the Presidency by sections c and e of Article 19 of Law 7/1998, of September 16, of the Generalitat, creating the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua. Against this act, which exhausts administrative remedies, the following may be filed:

• An optional appeal for reversal (recurso potestativo de reposición) before the Presidency of the AVL, within one month from the day following publication.
• A contentious-administrative appeal before the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, within two months from the day following publication.

The appointment strengthens the technical structure of the AVL in an area—that of linguistic-technical resources—directly linked to the major normative and terminological repertoires of the Valencian language. The designation of an internal profile with fifteen years of experience in toponymy and in the institution’s digital projects points to continuity in the development and maintenance of these public consultation tools.
