ICUB announces four creation grants at Fabra i Coats
Por FactBox Admin

The Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB) has announced the “Barcelona Crea Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de Creació” artistic creation grants for the 2026 edition, with four grants of 6,000 euros each. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona (BOPB) on September 4, 2026, with official reference CVE 202610137815.
The call was approved by resolution of the ICUB Management on June 23, 2026, acting by delegation of the Presidency on December 13, 2024, and is governed by the regulatory bases approved on April 3, 2024 (BOPB of April 17, 2024). The maximum allocation for the call is 24,000 euros, charged to the ICUB budget for the 2026 financial year. The announcement is signed by Marta Lafuente Garcia, delegated secretary of the ICUB.
Four grants in three modalities
The grants support the processes prior to the production of artistic proposals —conceptualization, gestation, research, experimentation, documentation, and rehearsal— of projects that have obtained an artistic residency at Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de Creació in 2026. The grants are distributed in three modalities:
- Creation in performing arts (theater, dance, circus, and movement arts): 2 grants.
- Creation in visual arts (including graphic novels): 1 grant.
- Musical creation: 1 grant.
Applicants must state the modality at the time of submitting the application, and subsequent changes will not be permitted. Each person or entity may only submit a single application for a single modality.
Who can apply and how to apply
Natural and legal persons who are beneficiaries of an artistic residency in 2026 through the Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de Creació call, with a minimum age of 18, may participate. Groups of people without legal personality, who must appoint a representative, are also admitted. Proposals must be new creations and maintain a relationship with the city of Barcelona or its metropolitan area.
Documentation should preferably be submitted electronically via the electronic office of the Barcelona City Council, and includes the application form, the project (maximum 6 pages), the curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages), and the responsible declaration. The submission period is 15 business days from the day after publication in the BOPB, that is, from September 7 to September 29, 2026.
Deadlines and procedure
The awarding procedure is based on competitive bidding. The instructing body is the Directorate of Innovation, Knowledge, and Visual Arts of the ICUB, and the provisional and final resolution corresponds to the ICUB Management. A multidisciplinary jury of independent persons evaluates the applications and submits the proposed resolution.
The phases covered by the grant must be developed no later than March 31, 2027, and the justification, by means of a detailed report, must be submitted before May 31, 2027. The maximum deadline for issuing the final resolution is 6 months from the end of the application submission period, and the grants are paid in a single payment via bank transfer.
The call represents a relevant opportunity for the city’s cultural sector by financing the most uncertain phase of artistic creation—the one preceding production—for artists who have already been selected to reside at Fabra i Coats. With a total allocation of 24,000 euros, the ICUB reinforces its support for contemporary creation and the network of creation factories in Barcelona.
