L'ICIB convoca 475.000 euros per a projectes culturals el 2026

The Cultural Industries Institute of the Balearic Islands (ICIB) has announced grants to support cultural projects for the year 2026, with a maximum budget of 475,000.00 euros (four hundred seventy-five thousand euros). The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) no. 137, of October 27, 2026, section III, page 59069, with official reference 10631, through a resolution signed by the president of the entity, Jaume Bauzà Mayol, on October 19, 2026.

Six modalities and budget distribution

The call is approved as annex 1 of the resolution and is processed under a competitive bidding regime, with a comparison of all applications within each modality. The credit, charged to chapter IV of the ICIB budget for 2026, is distributed as follows:

  • Modality A (performing arts): 145,000.00 euros.
  • Modality B (music): 35,000.00 euros.
  • Modality C (visual arts): 85,000.00 euros.
  • Modality D (publishing world): 85,000.00 euros.
  • Modality E (podcasts): 25,000.00 euros.
  • Modality F (cultural programming): 100,000.00 euros.

The remaining funds from each modality must first be used to complete projects that were partially funded due to lack of credit and, subsequently, for applications with the highest scores, regardless of the modality. The initial amount may be increased if budget availability allows, without this requiring an extension of the submission deadline.

Companies and freelancers in the sector, with domicile or activity in the Islands

Eligible beneficiaries include natural persons registered under the special regime for self-employed workers and legal entities with their own legal personality and Spanish nationality or nationality from a European Union state or the European Economic Area. The main requirements are:

  • To have a tax domicile or a permanent operational establishment in the Balearic Islands, or to commit to carrying out the main activity of the project there.
  • To be registered under a heading of the Tax on Economic Activities (IAE) linked to performing arts, music, plastic and visual arts, or the publishing world; for podcasts, the audiovisual heading is also accepted.
  • In visual arts, to prove the status of an art gallery with an exhibition open to the public and a commercial purpose.
  • In the publishing world, to be registered in the Publishers’ Database of the Ministry of Culture.
  • To be up to date with tax and Social Security obligations.

Excluded, among others, are public administrations and public law entities, non-profit entities, trade unions, business associations, and professional colleges, as well as persons and entities linked to the audiovisual sector, except in the podcast modality.

The deadline for submitting applications is fifteen business days from the day following the publication in the BOIB, that is, until November 17, 2026. Submission is mandatory via electronic means, through the enabled procedure at the CAIB Electronic Office. Each applicant may submit a maximum of two applications—only one for podcasts, and up to five if competing exclusively in the publishing world—with joint counting for companies owned by the same person or group.

Maximum amounts and evaluation

The aid per project has different ceilings depending on the modality: 25,000 euros for performing arts, visual arts, and cultural programming, and 10,000 euros for music, the publishing world, and podcasts. Those applying in a single modality can receive up to 50,000 euros in modalities A, C, D, and F, 20,000 in music, and 10,000 in podcasts. The aid cannot exceed 70% of the recognized cost, a percentage that rises to 80% for projects entirely in Catalan and for works directed or written by people with a recognized disability equal to or greater than 33%, and to 75% when the direction or authorship falls exclusively to a woman, without these increases applying to music, books, or cultural programming. The accepted budget for each project must be equal to or greater than 3,000 euros, excluding VAT.

The evaluation is carried out by an Evaluation Commission chaired by the managing director of the ICIB, with three external members: José Alberto de Gregorio Prieto, Pablo Fernández Compañ, and Manel González-Piñero, professors and researchers linked to the University of Barcelona. The instruction corresponds to the vice president of the entity and the resolution to the president. To obtain the aid, a minimum total score of 31 points out of 61 is required. The deadline for issuing and notifying the resolution is six months from the day following the end of the application period; the resolution is published in the BOIB and the call is transferred to the National Grants Database (BDNS).

Executable projects must be developed between January 1, 2026, and September 30, 2027, in modalities A, B, C, E, and F, and until June 30, 2028, for books and board games; these deadlines cannot be extended. The justification extends until October 30, 2027, and July 30, 2028, respectively, and the aid is paid in a single payment once the activity has been justified.

The call is one of the main direct aid lines of the Autonomous Community for own cultural production: it arrives when the sector is already planning the 2027 season and fixes, in a single act, deadlines, economic ceilings, and scoring criteria for companies, record labels, galleries, publishers, podcast producers, and private programmers of the Islands.
