L'Hospitalet announces three research grants for young researchers.

The City Council of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat has announced the 40th edition of the L’Hospitalet City Research Grants, aimed at university graduates. The call provides for the award of three grants of €5,000.00 each to promote the study and knowledge of the city’s history. The extract of the terms and conditions and the call was published on 30 July 2026 in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona, with the official reference CVE 202610127552.

This text is published in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003 of 17 November, General Subsidies Law, and the call is registered in the National Database of Subsidies with identifier BDNS 921534. The regulatory terms were approved by the Local Government Board on 18 March 2026 and published in the BOPB (CVE 202610071450) on 16 April 2026. The management of the grants corresponds to the Museum of L’Hospitalet, Heritage and Memory, within the Culture Service of the Area of Transformative City.

A commitment to local historiography

The purpose of the call is to award three research grants to promote the study and research on the city of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, improve knowledge and understanding of its history, and encourage the dissemination and expansion of its local historiography. The initiative is part of strategic objective 7 of the City Council’s Strategic Grants Plan 2026-2027, within the funding line “OE7-01 Awards, grants and recognition of L’Hospitalet”.

Who can apply

• Reside in Spain, regardless of nationality.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree and/or licentiate related to the thematic focus of the proposed research project.
• Have officially recognised qualifications obtained outside Spain, in accordance with Royal Decree 889/2022 of 18 October.
• Not fall under any of the cases provided for in article 13 of Law 38/2003.
• Be up to date with economic and tax obligations with the City Council.
• Not have been awarded a grant in previous years’ calls.

Deadline, funding and justification

The deadline for submitting applications is twenty working days from the day after the publication of the extract in the BOPB. The application can be submitted electronically at the City Council’s electronic office or in paper format at any office of the General Registry, at the choice of the interested party. Each grant has a funding of €5,000.00, which will be charged to budget item 04 3330 02 4810000 of the municipal budget for the 2026 financial year.

The justification provides for the delivery, within one month from the notification of the grant, of an explanatory document of the structure of the final report and the development of the project. The final report must be submitted by the deadline of 2 December 2026, in two copies: one in Catalan and one in Spanish, in paper support and a copy in electronic format.

A call that reaches its 40th edition

The extract, signed on 24 July 2026 by the Deputy Mayor of the Transformative City Area, Laura García Manota, by virtue of Decree RES/9204/2026, of 1 July, gives continuity to one of the longest-running local research support programmes, which this year reaches its 40th edition. For young researchers, the grants represent an opportunity to fund a project on the history of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and contribute to expanding its local historiography.
