L'AMB convoca vuit subvencions de 4.600 euros per a projectes climàtics juvenils

The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) has announced eight grants of 4,600 euros each, for a total of 36,800 euros, for climate action projects led by young people between the ages of 15 and 24. The approval was adopted by the AMB Governing Board on October 13, 2026, and the summary was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona on October 22, 2026, with the official reference CVE 202610155796. The period for submitting applications opens the day after publication and ends on November 5, 2026.

The call stems from the regulatory bases definitively approved and published in the BOPB on September 9, 2026, with reference to the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya of September 18, 2026. The file is Exp. 911629/26 and the summary is registered in the National Grants Database under number BDNS 935541, in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of November 17, the general law on grants.

The program’s origin is international: the Bloomberg Philanthropies foundation promotes the Youth Climate Action Fund, aimed at local governments as recipients of the funding. The AMB submitted its pre-candidacy in December 2025, signed the commitment letter on February 3, 2026, and was notified of its selection on April 21, 2026, an event that incorporates it into a global network of 300 cities.

Who can apply for the grants

Projects must be developed within the metropolitan territory of Barcelona, have an environmental or climate purpose, and be led by young people aged 15 to 24. Eligible beneficiaries include:

  • Youth associations.
  • Environmental associations.
  • Foundations.
  • Non-profit entities.
  • Educational centers.
  • Public entities and other legally constituted non-profit organizations.

Natural persons, commercial companies, political parties, and organizations linked to parties are excluded. Entities must be legally constituted, possess a NIF (Tax Identification Number) and their own bank account, and not fall under the prohibitions of article 13 of the General Law on Grants.

Thematic areas and evaluation criteria

Proposals may address ten strategic lines: thermal comfort and health during heatwaves; mental health and climate action; nature-based solutions and citizen science; waste prevention and recycling; sustainable mobility; civic technology and data; climate culture and communication; video games; artificial intelligence; and energy efficiency and renewable energies.

The evaluation, under a competitive bidding system, awards up to 100 points:

  • Climate and environmental impact: up to 30 points.
  • Youth leadership and participation: up to 20 points.
  • Technical and economic viability: up to 15 points.
  • Innovation, originality, and creativity: up to 15 points.
  • Social impact and inclusion: up to 10 points.
  • Alignment with metropolitan climate priorities: up to 10 points.

Projects that do not exceed 50% of the possible score will be declared “unsuitable.”

Deadlines, documentation, and execution

Applications are submitted through the generic instance of the AMB electronic office, with five mandatory documents:

  • Project report and timeline (maximum four pages).
  • Project budget.
  • Statutes and NIF/CIF of the entity.
  • Responsible declaration.
  • Documentation accrediting youth leadership.

The subsidized activities must be developed between December 7, 2026, and April 15, 2027, the deadline for submitting the completed project. The allocation is charged to the budget application A3100 17210 48915 for the 2027 fiscal year, and the grant is subject to the suspensive condition of the existence of adequate and sufficient credit. The extract is signed by the AMB secretary, Mireia Grau Sadurní, in Barcelona on October 15, 2026.

The impact of the call is twofold: on one hand, it positions the metropolitan youth as an executor of climate policy with their own resources; on the other, it opens a funding route of up to 100% of the project cost for small entities that usually do not access subsidy lines. With only eight grants and a two-week deadline, competition will be the determining factor for access.
