AETIB reopens the deadline to select permanent staff for the 2025 OPO

The Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency (AETIB) has agreed to open a new period of ten calendar days to submit applications for the selective process for the selection of permanent contractual staff corresponding to the 2025 public employment offer. The decision, adopted by the agency’s director Pere Joan Planas Mulet, is published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) No. 105, dated August 22, 2026, via Resolution 8500.

The new period will be counted from the day following the publication of this resolution in the BOIB. The measure responds to the detection of a formal defect: the call, approved by resolution on July 1, 2026 (BOIB No. 84, of July 4, 2026), was not published complementarily in the newspapers of widest circulation within the territorial scope, as required by point 8 of the resolution and base 2 of the call.

A publicity defect that limited competition

The official publication in the BOIB was carried out correctly and fully produced its legal effects, but the omission of complementary publicity in the newspapers of widest circulation may have limited the effective knowledge of the call by potential applicants. According to the resolution, this lack could affect the principle of publicity that must preside over selective processes for access to public employment, creating a risk of limiting competition and a potential situation of material defenselessness.

To restore the principles of publicity, competitive competition, equal opportunity, and legal certainty, the agency has opted to complement the initially planned publicity and open a new period, without the need to backtrack or annul the actions already carried out.

Applications already submitted: full validity

In accordance with the principle of conservation of administrative acts provided for in Article 51 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure, applications submitted within the initially granted period retain all their legal effects. Interested parties do not need to submit a new application or take any additional action.

• Reason: publicity defect due to the lack of dissemination in newspapers of widest circulation.

Appeals and closing

Against the resolution, which exhausts the administrative route, an appeal for reversal may be filed before the director of the AETIB within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the competent Contentious-Administrative Court of Palma within two months. The measure, electronically signed on August 19, 2026, ensures that all potential candidates can be aware of and participate in the process, reinforcing transparency and equal opportunities in access to public employment in the Balearic Islands.
