A committee has been appointed to evaluate high-level sports grants

Ibone Bengoetxea Otaolea, First Vice President of the Basque Government and Minister of Culture and Language Policy, has signed the order of August 18, 2026, to appoint the members of the Evaluation Committee that will analyze and evaluate the grant applications for organizing high-level sports competitions in 2026. The resolution has been published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV), issue number 164, on August 28, 2026, with official reference 2026/3736.

The order makes public the composition of the Committee and is based on the order of July 7, 2026, which regulates the call for grants to organize high-level sports competitions in 2026. Article 12 of that call establishes, on one hand, that an Evaluation Committee will be formed to analyze the submitted applications and documentation; and, on the other hand, that the First Vice President and Minister of Culture and Language Policy will appoint two technical personnel from the Directorate of Physical Activity and Sports as members of the Committee.

Composition of the Committee

The Evaluation Committee consists of three members, and the presidency is held by Elisabet Altube Bengoa, who is the head of Legal Advice for the Directorate of Physical Activity and Sports of the Basque Government. The remaining members composing the Committee are:

• Aitor Alberdi Rodríguez, technician of the Directorate of Physical Activity and Sports.
• Leire Bengoa Luengo, technician of the same directorate, who will perform the duties of the Committee secretary.

Importance of the Evaluation

The Committee will analyze and evaluate the grant applications for organizing high-level sports competitions in 2026, in accordance with the provisions of Article 12 of the call. Its work is essential for Basque clubs and federations, as it will evaluate their requests and provide recommendations for awarding the grants.

The resolution was signed in Vitoria-Gasteiz on August 18, 2026, and its publication in the BOPV was ordered for general knowledge. The appointments to the Committee ensure the start of the evaluation process for the 2026 call, promoting the organization of high-level competitions in Basque sports through support.
