Background: from project to construction

This tender gives continuity to the previous work of project drafting and construction management for the same building, processed by the Contracting Board of the Ministry of Justice under file ASE/2022/074. That contract, with an estimated value of 853,270.88 euros and a duration of 30 months, was published in the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado) no. 168, of July 14, 2022 (reference BOE-B-2022-22832).

The formalization was announced in the Official State Gazette no. 105, of May 3, 2023 (reference BOE-B-2023-12807), after receiving 9 bids and with an award date of March 1, 2023. The joint venture of GIRA ARQUITECTOS S.L.P. and JAVIER FUSTER ARQUITECTOS SLP was awarded the contract for an amount of 535,000.00 euros.

The tender now published represents the transition from the project phase to the material execution of a judicial facility long demanded in the region, with a public investment exceeding 13.8 million euros and a construction horizon of nearly four years. The new courthouse building in Talavera de la Reina will concentrate the city’s judicial bodies in a modern headquarters, with the consequent impact on the public Justice service and on the economic and labor activity of the surroundings during the construction phase.
