Justice calls for 45 free-appointment positions in the courts of first instance

The General Directorate of Justice and Self-Government has announced a free appointment competition for the provision of 45 job positions within the general bodies of the Administration of Justice in the territorial area of the Comunitat Valenciana. The resolution, signed on September 17, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) no. 10458, of September 24, 2026, with the official reference DOGV-C-2026-29666. Interested civil servants have ten business days, counting from the day following the publication, to submit their application.

The call is part of the implementation of the courts of first instance. By resolutions dated November 19 and 20, 2025, from the General Directorate of Justice and Self-Government, the job lists for the judicial offices of the judicial districts of the Comunitat Valenciana in which courts of first instance were established as of December 31, 2025, were approved. The resolution is based on the fourth transitional provision of Organic Law 19/2003, of December 23, and on articles 56 and following of Royal Decree 1451/2005, of December 7, which approves the Regulations for entry, provision of job positions, and professional promotion of civil servant personnel in the service of the Administration of Justice.

Civil servants from the bodies of procedural and administrative management, procedural and administrative processing, and judicial assistance who are in active service or in any other situation that entails the reservation of the job position at the time the application deadline expires may apply for the positions. The call is also published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) and, if the dates do not coincide, the deadline will in any case be counted from the publication in the BOE.

The announced destinations

The positions, which are singularized and by free appointment, are distributed between the general common services of the courts of first instance and the Government Secretariat:

• Alicante: seven positions in the General Common Service of the Court of First Instance (two for procedural and administrative management and five for procedural and administrative processing).
• Castellón: two positions for procedural and administrative processing in the General Common Service of the Court of First Instance.
• Valencia: eight positions in the General Common Service of the Court of First Instance (seven for processing and one for judicial assistance).
• Government Secretariat: 28 positions, including team leadership for the support group in Valencia, Alicante, and Castellón, support positions for the governing function of the president of the High Court of Justice, and management, processing, and assistance positions.

Supplementary remuneration is listed in Annex I: the general position supplement reaches 4,409.16 euros for management positions, 3,777.24 euros for processing, and 2,885.16 euros for judicial assistance, with specific supplements of up to 11,988.96 euros for team leadership roles within the support group.

Deadline, applications, and appointments

• Applications shall adhere to the model in Annex II and be addressed to the Directorate General of Justice and Self-Government, stating personal data, current position, and requested positions in order of preference.
• They must be accompanied by a curriculum vitae and submitted solely through the electronic registry of the Generalitat Valenciana, using a DNI-e electronic certificate, FNMT, or equivalent means.
• Provisional and final results will be published by resolution of the Directorate General of Justice and Self-Government.
• Appointments will be made within a maximum period of two months from the end of the application period, extendable by one further month.
• Taking office will occur when the judicial office of the municipality corresponding to each destination center becomes operational.

Position conditions and appeals

Those appointed may be dismissed at the discretion of the same authority that appointed them, and may resign via a reasoned request provided they have held the position for at least one year. The dismissed or resigning official will be provisionally assigned, until they obtain another permanent position, within the same municipality, effective the day following the resolution of dismissal or the acceptance of the resignation.

Against the resolution, which exhausts the administrative route, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed within two months and, optionally, a request for reversal within one month before the Directorate General of Justice and Self-Government. The resolution bears the signature of M. José Adalid Hinarejos, Director General of Justice and Self-Government, and is categorized under Section II of the DOGV, part A) of public employment offers, competitive examinations, and contests, under the Department of Justice, Transparency, and Participation.

The call directly affects justice officials of the Valencian Community, who are provided a mobility route linked to the deployment of the courts of first instance. The selection of holders by free appointment, with discretionary dismissal, reinforces the weight of the governing bodies in the configuration of the new judicial offices.
