Justice Minister appoints seven new lawyers across five Danish cities

The Danish Minister of Justice has, on 1 September 2026, formally appointed seven new lawyers to the Danish Bar. Each of the seven, all holding the cand.jur. degree, has been licensed to practise as an advocate in one of five cities across the Kingdom, including the capital and the Greenlandic seat of Nuuk.

The appointments were published in the official gazette Statstidende of 3 September 2026, in the section “Diverse – Afskedigelser og udnævnelser” (Miscellaneous – Dismissals and appointments), under the individual references S01092026-217, S01092026-213, S09072026-34, S09072026-21, S15072026-104, S07072026-97 and S02072026-39.

The new appointees

The seven newly appointed lawyers, each licensed to practise in the city indicated, are:

• Sofie Friis Christensen, cand.jur., Aarhus (reference S09072026-34)

• Mads Just Hansen, cand.jur., Fredericia (reference S15072026-104)
• Nanna Kildegård Larsen, cand.jur., København (reference S07072026-97)
• Andreas Peter Fjelstrup Guldbrandsen, cand.jur., København (reference S02072026-39)

Geographic spread

The appointments cover five locations, with the capital København receiving the largest share of the new licences: three of the seven lawyers will practise there. The remaining four are distributed across Aarhus, Odense, Fredericia and Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, reflecting the reach of the Danish legal profession across the Kingdom.

Legal significance

In Denmark, the right to practise as an advocate is granted by the Minister of Justice through a formal act of appointment (“beskikkelse”), which is then recorded in the official gazette. The publication in Statstidende gives the appointments legal effect and public notice, allowing the new lawyers to appear before the courts and to represent clients in the jurisdictions where they are licensed.

For the legal profession and for legal certainty, the batch of appointments strengthens the availability of qualified advocates in both the main Danish cities and in Greenland, where access to locally based legal counsel is of particular importance.
