Junta de Castilla y León awards sixteen Extraordinary Baccalaureate Prizes

The Ministry of Education of the Junta de Castilla y León has awarded the Extraordinary Baccalaureate Prizes corresponding to the 2025-2026 academic year to sixteen students from the region. The resolution was signed on 13 August 2026 by the Minister of Education, María Pardo Álvarez, and was published on Tuesday 18 August in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (BOCYL), issue number 159, on pages 47 to 49.

The award is governed by Order EDU/234/2016, of 30 March, as amended by Order EDU/275/2018, of 9 March, which regulates these regional prizes with the aim of “granting official recognition to merits based on the effort and work of students who have completed their baccalaureate studies with excellent academic performance.” The call for applications for the 2025-2026 academic year was published by means of an Extract in BOCYL issue number 54, of 19 March 2026 (BDNS 893631).

Requirements and procedure

The resolution is based on the report of the examining boards and on the grades obtained by the selected candidates. At the proposal of the Director General for Innovation and Teacher Training and in accordance with section thirteen of the call for applications order, the Minister resolves to award the prizes to the students listed in the annex to the order, “arranged by province and alphabetically.”

The prize: diploma, one thousand euros and academic advantages

In accordance with section three.5 of the call for applications order, the prize consists of three components:

• A certifying diploma of the distinction obtained.
• A financial award of 1,000 euros, which will be transferred to the bank account of the applying student.
• Exemptions or reductions in public fees for academic services for the first year of higher education at a public institution, in accordance with Decree 8/2024, of 30 May (extended for the 2026-2027 academic year), and Decree 11/2024, of 20 June, which sets the public fees for special regime education in the Community.

The sixteen award winners

The Extraordinary Baccalaureate Prizes are awarded to students from nine provinces of the community:

• Ávila: Alejandro Muñoz Serrano (IES Alonso de Madrigal).
• Burgos: Alejandra Matías Sagredo and Varvara Lukovkina (Colegio Ntra. Sra. de la Merced y San Francisco Javier).
• León: Chadi Oumiri Rhazi (IES Europa, Ponferrada), Sandra Marcos Díez (IES Lancia, León) and Carlos Pérez Lara (CPR Inf-Pri-Sec La Inmaculada, Ponferrada).
• Palencia: Mateo Puertas Solórzano (IES Jorge Manrique).
• Salamanca: Diego Modesto Alonso Domínguez (IES Vaguada de la Palma) and Jaime Pablos Tavera (CPR Inf-Pri-Sec Santa Teresa de Jesús).
• Segovia: Hugo Cobas del Barrio (IES Francisco Giner de los Ríos).
• Soria: Almudena Ruiz Teresa (IES Politécnico).
• Valladolid: Paula Rodríguez Esteban (CPR Compañía de María), Fernando González Vivanco (CPR Nuestra Señora de la Consolación), Inés Fuentes García (CPR Nuestra Señora del Pilar) and Marcos García García (IES Ramón y Cajal).
• Zamora: Elena Orozco Casas (IES Maestro Haedo).

Appeal routes and effects on the academic record

The order, which ends the administrative route, provides for an optional appeal for reconsideration before the Regional Minister of Education within one month, or an administrative contentious appeal before the Administrative Contentious Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León within two months, from the day following publication in the BOCYL. Obtaining the award will be recorded in each student’s academic history by the school secretary and incorporated into their academic record. In addition, the Director General for Innovation and Teacher Training will communicate the list of awarded students to the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports so that they may, upon prior registration, apply for the National Baccalaureate Awards.

The recognition represents a tangible incentive for students with excellent academic results in Castilla y León, as it combines an immediate economic reward with tax advantages in access to public university and the possibility of being a candidate for the awards granted by the Government of Spain.
