Jumilla frees the land adjacent to the old sewage treatment plant

The Plenary Council of Jumilla, in a session held on August 10, 2026, has initially approved the structural modification of the General Municipal Planning Plan (PGMO) to remove the existing protection on the land adjacent to the former municipal wastewater treatment plant. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM) number 190, dated August 19, 2026, page 19646, with official reference A-190826-4072.

The decision opens a public information process of two months, or forty-five business days if the first period proves to be shorter, so that citizens and interested parties may submit allegations and suggestions regarding the approved modification.

A planning change with environmental processing

The modification, processed under file 510331T, was prepared by the drafting team García de los Reyes Arquitectos Asociados, S.L., with NIF B18472274. The document consists of the Planning Report, the Strategic Environmental Study, and plans B-3-5, B-3-6, and D-5-10.

The procedure complies with the provisions of Article 160.2 of Law 13/2015, of March 30, on territorial and urban planning of the Region of Murcia, and Article 21.2 of Law 21/2013, of December 9, on environmental assessment.

Deadlines and public consultation

The period for allegations is calculated from the day following the publication of the announcement in the BORM. During this period, the full text of the modification can be consulted on the notice board of the electronic headquarters of the Jumilla City Council (jumilla.sedipualba.es/tablondeanuncios).

Signature and scope

The announcement, dated in Jumilla on August 11, 2026, is signed by the mayor, Severa González López. The release of this land opens the door to new urban developments in the municipality, by decoupling a plot linked to the former sanitation facilities from urban protection.

The initial approval is not final: the result of the allegations period and the environmental report will condition the provisional and final approval of the new planning; therefore, the urban outcome of this area of Jumilla will depend on the contributions submitted during the public exhibition.
