Jaraicejo eliminates the sewerage and water purification tax
Por FactBox Admin

The Plenary Session of the Jaraicejo City Council, in an ordinary session held on September 10, 2026, has provisionally approved the suppression of the Tax for the provision of the Sewerage, Treatment, and Purification of Wastewater Service and the repeal of the Fiscal Ordinance that regulates it. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres (BOP) No. 177, dated September 16, 2026, with reference BOP-2026-4321, page 21374.
The measure, signed by Mayor Mario Trabas González, will result in the elimination of a tax that charged residents for the use of the sanitation network and the treatment of the municipality’s wastewater. The ordinance now being repealed was originally published in the BOP of Cáceres No. 15, dated January 23, 2004, and had been subject to subsequent modifications.
Period for Allegations
In accordance with Article 17 of the consolidated text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, the file shall be open to the public for thirty business days, counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the BOP. During this period, interested parties may examine it and submit any claims they deem appropriate.
The file will also be available to interested parties on the electronic headquarters of the Jaraicejo City Council.
Processing and Effects
If no claims are submitted during the indicated period, the provisional agreement shall be understood as definitively adopted without the need for a new plenary agreement. In this way, the suppression of the tax would become final once the public exhibition period has expired without allegations.
The essential data of the procedure are:
- Decision-making body: Plenary Session of the Jaraicejo City Council.
- Date of agreement: September 10, 2026.
- Affected tax: Tax for Sewerage, Treatment, and Purification of Wastewater.
- Period for allegations: 30 business days from the day following publication.
- Publication: BOP of Cáceres No. 177, dated September 16, 2026, p. 21374.
Impact for Residents
The repeal of the ordinance eliminates a surcharge that taxpayers in Jaraicejo had been paying on their bills for the sanitation and purification service. The suppression, once final, will alleviate the tax burden on the municipality’s households, although the City Council must assume the cost of the service using other resources.
The measure is part of the municipal policy of tax simplification and represents a relevant change in local fiscal organization, which residents may evaluate during the public exhibition period before the agreement becomes definitive.
