Jabalquinto authorizes expansion of olive oil plant on rustic land

The Jabalquinto City Council (Jaén) has authorized the expansion of the olive oil bottling plant of the company Aires de Jaén SL (CIF B86105715), located on the Los Badenes estate in its municipal area. The agreement was adopted at an extraordinary plenary session on July 17, 2026, and is published this Tuesday, August 18, in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Jaén, issue number 159, page 12773, with reference 2026/3785.

Origin and processing of the project

The application was submitted by Aires de Jaén SL to the Jabalquinto council and forwarded to the municipal Plenary for approval. The municipal technical report, issued on May 19, 2026, assessed that the expansion constitutes a reform of the original action project approved at the plenary session on October 19, 2012, and subsequently amended on June 28, 2017, in which its public utility status was already recognized. The Mayor-President, Pedro López Lérida, made the resolution public in Jabalquinto on July 24, 2026.

Purpose of the action

The authorization covers the implementation of an extraordinary industrial use on rustic land, specifically an expansion of the existing plant on plot number 17 of polygon 18. The aspects covered by the project are:

• A new olive oil bottling line.
• Greater raw material storage capacity.
• Expansion of storage for auxiliary materials and finished product.

Conditions and deadlines

The agreement establishes that the action is authorized for an unlimited period, although it includes a lapse clause: if the activities cease for more than five consecutive years, the authorization will lose its validity —after prior hearing of the interested party— with the obligation to restore the land to its natural state. Likewise, before obtaining the urban development license, the promoter must prove payment of the compensatory contribution, which is set at 1% of the budget for the material execution of the works, excluding machinery and equipment, in accordance with the municipal Ordinance and article 22.5 of Law 7/2021, of December 1, on the impulse for the sustainability of the territory of Andalusia.

Deadline to apply for the license

The urban development license must be requested within a maximum period of one year from the date of the agreement, as established by article 33.4.d of Decree 550/2022, of November 29, which approves the General Regulations of the aforementioned law. The agreement orders its publication in the BOP and on the municipal website, together with the approved action project, and its notification to the promoting entity.

Jabalquinto is located in the heart of the province of Jaén, the largest olive-growing territory in the world, where the bottling and storage capacity of local companies is a strategic factor for the competitiveness of the sector. This expansion strengthens the industrial infrastructure of Aires de Jaén SL and represents institutional support for investment in the processing and marketing of Jaén olive oil at a time when the value chain seeks to consolidate its position against international markets.
