Iris María Esteve Ruíz, new medical deputy director of Virgen del Rocío

The Management Directorate of the Andalusian Health Service has resolved the public call to fill the executive position of Medical Sub-directorate at the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital, in Seville, and has appointed Iris María Esteve Ruíz to the post. The decision is contained in the Resolution of October 23, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) no. 209, of October 28, 2026, in section 2.1 on Appointments, situations, and incidents (official reference 00345363, text no. 14134). The appointment takes effect on the same day as its publication in the gazette.

The regulatory framework of the appointment

The resolution is adopted in accordance with the provisions of articles 6.1 and 6.3 of Decree 132/2021, of April 6, which regulates the system for filling executive positions and intermediate posts in the health centers of the Andalusian Health Service, published in BOJA no. 66, of April 9. Appeals and administrative route

The resolution concludes the administrative route; therefore, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed against it before the Contentious-Administrative Court within two months starting from the day following its notification, according to articles 8, 14, and 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction.

Optionally and without prejudice to the foregoing, an appeal for reversal (recurso de reposición) may be filed within one month, in accordance with articles 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

The appointment affects the management structure of the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío, the primary public healthcare complex of reference in the province of Seville, and is resolved through the discretionary appointment procedure with immediate effect from the publication of the BOJA, such that the new head of the Medical Sub-directorate assumes the position without any additional delay.
