Late payment interest for 56 expropriated properties in Pareja and Mantiel

Por FactBox Admin

Intereses de demora para 56 fincas expropiadas en Pareja y Mantiel

The Tagus Hydrographic Confederation has activated the payment of compensation in the form of late payment interest to the owners of assets and rights of 56 estates in Pareja and Mantiel affected by the compulsory expropriation proceedings for the water supply works for the future association of municipalities adjacent to the Entrepeñas and Buendía reservoirs. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Guadalajara No. 203, dated October 23, 2026, and follows the signing of the proposal for authorization, commitment, recognition of obligation, and payment by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge on October 16, 2026.

The framework is a compulsory expropriation file processed under the urgency procedure and motivated by the works of “Modified No. 1 of the supply project for the future association of municipalities adjacent to the Entrepeñas and Buendía reservoirs (Guadalajara and Cuenca),” identified by the key 03.399.001/2121. This does not concern the fair price (justiprecio), but rather the interest accrued due to the delay in its payment: the announcement is made public for the purposes provided for in Article 49 of the Compulsory Expropriation Regulations, which develops the Compulsory Expropriation Law of December 16, 1954.

The document was signed in Madrid on October 20, 2026, by the Secretary General of the basin organization, Álvaro Agustín de Torres Suárez, and is disseminated in Section I of the gazette, which is reserved for the State Administration.

Three announcements and half a hundred estates

The same issue of the gazette contains three consecutive announcements from the Tagus Hydrographic Confederation with the same objective and the same file key, which together total 56 plots:

  • Pareja: 20 estates, from EX13/01-01/17080 to EX13/01-01/17107, most with cadastral references in polygon 0 and two of them in polygon 3, plot 00301.
  • Mantiel: 10 estates, from EX13/01-01/16068 to EX13/01-01/16077, all in polygon 2.
  • Mantiel: 26 more estates, from EX13/01-01/16078 to EX13/01-01/16126, also in polygon 2.

The lists identify each estate by municipality, estate file number, polygon, and plot, so that each owner can locate their property without the need for individual notification.

Bank transfer or deposit consignment

Payment will be made via bank transfer to the account designated by the interested parties. Amounts that cannot be made effective through this route will be consigned to the General Deposit Fund (Caja General de Depósitos) at the disposal of the owners; once the circumstance that led to the consignment has been rectified, the Tagus Hydrographic Confederation will process the necessary steps to make the payment effective.

The announcement does not specify amounts per property nor claim deadlines: it is limited to identifying the properties and the payment procedure, meaning that the verification of the provided bank account is decisive for collecting payment without additional delays.

A series repeating since September

This Friday’s publication is part of a sequence of announcements from the same file that has been unfolding in recent weeks. On October 5, properties in Escamilla were published; on October 9, properties in Mantiel and Pareja; on October 21, a batch from Mantiel between EX13/01-01/16020 and 16067; and on October 22, the ten properties from Mantiel that are now reproduced.

Added to this are the announcements for the payment of fair price—not interest—processed under another key, 03.399.001/2111, corresponding to the power line phase of the same project, published on September 15 and October 2, 2026, and referring to properties in Cifuentes and other districts.

Why it matters

For the owners in Pareja and Mantiel, the announcement confirms that the Administration recognizes the obligation and orders the payment of interest accumulated due to the delay in compensation for a project affecting several municipalities in the region. Publication in the official bulletin replaces personal notification, so those affected must review the lists to check if their property is listed and verify the banking details provided to the basin authority.
