Por FactBox Admin

The General Directorate of Sustainable Management and Forestry Policy, of the Regional Ministry of Industry, Energy, Science and Territory, has formulated the environmental impact report for the reform project of the medium voltage power line LAMT 5022-29 “Circunvalación 2” from the STR “Jaraíz de la Vera” substation, 13.2 kV, between supports 2014-2 and 2027. The resolution, signed on August 13, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 162, dated August 21, 2026, and concludes that the project is not expected to produce significant adverse impacts on the environment.
The action, promoted by i-DE Redes Eléctricas Inteligentes, SAU (CIF A95075578), will be developed in the municipal terms of Jaraíz de la Vera and Garganta la Olla, in the province of Cáceres, with the objective of improving the electricity supply in the area. The processed file is IA24/2081, and the report is issued in accordance with Law 16/2015, of April 23, on environmental protection of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, under its simplified environmental assessment procedure.
Technical scope of the project
The new line will have a total length of 2,479 meters and a voltage of 13.2 kV, with an underground section of 510 meters and an aerial section of 1,887 meters. The existing section between supports 2014-2 and 2026-1, with a length of 2,553 meters, will be dismantled, while several supports will be maintained to continue feeding the branches to the transformation centers “Lancha Cabrera”, “Valparaíso 3” and “Cno. Valdepastor”.
- Underground section: 510 meters, from the CT “Urbanización Miragredos” to the new support A1.
- Aerial section: 1,887 meters, from support A1 to the existing support no. 2027.
- New supports: 10, embedded mounting with metal profiles.
- Impact on trees: 96 pyrenean oak trees and 2 chestnut trees, via pruning.
Consultations and environmental impacts
During the processing, six administrations and bodies were consulted, which issued reports: the Nature Conservation and Protected Areas Service, the Territorial Planning Service, the Forestry Planning and Management Service, the Rural Infrastructure and Bullfighting Service, the Archaeology and Strategic Projects Service, and the Tagus Hydrographic Confederation. The project is located outside the Natura 2000 Network, although 1.5 km from the SPA/SAC “Río y Pinares del Tiétar” and the SPA “Colonias de Cernícalo Primilla de Jaraíz de la Vera”.
In the affected area, species listed as endangered have been identified, including the black stork, the red kite, and the medium and Mediterranean horseshoe bats, whose critical area is located at the Magdalena Mine, approximately 500 meters from the route. The report imposes measures to prevent the collision and electrocution of avifauna, such as the insulation of live elements and the marking of conductors with bird-saver devices.
Conditions and Validity
The report establishes a wide set of preventive and corrective measures regarding the protection of water, soil, fauna, vegetation, landscape, and cultural heritage, as well as an environmental monitoring program. As a compensatory measure, one nest box will be installed per support throughout the useful life of the line.
- The report will lose its validity if the project is not authorized within a maximum period of four years from its publication.
- The conditions may be revised in the event of new regulations or if the measures prove to be insufficient.
- The report shall not be subject to appeal, without prejudice to those that may proceed against the act of authorization.
The report, signed by the general director Juan Eloy Rodríguez Ucedo, is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura and on the Extremambiente website. The resolution represents a key step toward improving the quality and security of the electricity supply in the region of La Vera, while simultaneously guaranteeing the protection of a natural environment of high ecological value.
