Por FactBox Admin

The Regional Government of Extremadura has opened the public information process for the prior administrative authorization and the specific recognition of public utility for a new 20 kV medium-voltage overhead line between Alburquerque and San Vicente de Alcántara. The announcement, dated September 24, 2026, is signed by the head of the Industrial, Energy and Mining Planning Service, Juan Francisco Lemus Prieto, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz No. 200, dated October 19, 2026, in the Autonomous Administration section (announcement 3756/2026, file 06AT-10177-18614). The declaration of public utility will implicitly entail the need for occupation of the affected assets and urgent occupation for the purposes of the Compulsory Expropriation Law.
The legal framework of the procedure
The process is based on Title IX of Law 24/2013, of December 26, on the Electricity Sector, and Title VII, Chapter II, of Royal Decree 1955/2000, of December 1, which regulates the activities of transport, distribution, marketing, supply, and the authorization procedures for electrical energy installations. The promoting body is the Ministry of Industry, Energy, Science and Territory, through the General Directorate of Industry, Energy and Mines, based in Mérida.
The resolution that concludes the procedure will be the responsibility of the Industrial, Energy and Mining Planning Service, in accordance with Decree 221/2012, of November 9, regarding the determination of the means of publishing public information announcements in the energy and hydrocarbon sectors. Due to its characteristics, the project must also undergo a simplified environmental impact assessment.
