Public information for the Plasencia geothermal permit of 300 mining grids

The Junta de Extremadura has definitively admitted the application for a geothermal resource research permit submitted by the company Cáceres Earth Explorer, SL covering 300 mining grids in five municipalities of the province of Cáceres. The announcement, dated August 19, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 183, dated September 22, 2026, within section IV (Announcements), with the official reference 2026081481. The resolution opens a public information period of twenty business days so that any natural or legal person may examine the procedure and submit allegations.

A perimeter of 300 grids across five municipalities

The file, processed by the Industrial, Energy and Mining Planning Service of the General Directorate of Industry, Energy and Mines, under the Regional Ministry of Industry, Energy, Science and Territory, corresponds to the research permit named “Plasencia”, number 10D10403-00. The requested area affects the municipal boundaries of:

• Cabezabellosa
• Casas del Castañar
• Malpartida de Plasencia
• Oliva de Plasencia
• Plasencia

The applicant company, Cáceres Earth Explorer, SL, has NIF B70654975 and is located at Francisco Silvela Street, number 52, 1.º C, 28028 Madrid. The perimeter is defined by twelve vertices expressed in SRG ETRS89 coordinates, with longitudes between 6º 00’ 00’’ and 6º 07’ 20’’ west and latitudes around 40º north. Twenty business days for allegations and thirty for the restoration plan

The opening of the procedure complies with article 70.2 of the General Regulation for the Mining Regime, of August 25, 1978. The deadlines are:

• Twenty business days for those with interested party status to examine the procedure and submit allegations.
• Thirty business days to consult the project’s restoration plan, in accordance with article 6 of Royal Decree 975/2009, of June 12, on waste management from extractive industries and protection of areas affected by mining activities.

Both periods are calculated from the day following the publication of the announcement. Observations, allegations, and inquiries may be submitted through any of the means provided for in Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

Consultation of the file and favorable restoration proposal

The project and the restoration plan are available at the offices of the Industrial, Energy and Mining Planning Service, located at Clara Campoamor Avenue, number 2, Múltiples Building, 3rd floor, Cáceres, and on the website of the Geological Mining Information System of Extremadura. Document access is provided from Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 14:00 hours.

The Service proposes a favorable resolution to the submitted restoration plan, without prejudice to any allegations that may be made during the public information period and the reports or conditions of the consulted bodies. The competent body to resolve the administrative authorization of this plan is the Industrial, Energy and Mining Planning Service itself. The applicable public participation procedure is that established in article 6.5 of Royal Decree 975/2009. The announcement appears signed in Cáceres, on August 19, 2026, by the Head of Service, Juan Francisco Lemus Prieto.
