INE sets 10.842 billion pesos for parties in 2027

The General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) determined the federal public financing for the 2027 fiscal year at 10,842,653,927 pesos, which will be distributed among the eight national political parties and independent candidacies. The figure was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on August 28, 2026, through agreement INE/CG483/2026, in the Autonomous Bodies section, page 147.
The agreement is based on Article 41 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States and the General Law of Political Parties (LGPP), which guarantee parties equitable public resources that prevail over those of private origin. The calculation was based on the electoral roll as of July 31, 2026, consisting of 103,333,465 citizens, and the daily value of the 2026 UMA, which is 117.31 pesos.
Composition of the financing
The total amount is composed of several items that finance party operations and the contest:
- Permanent ordinary activities: 7,879,331,706 pesos.
- Activities aimed at obtaining votes (campaign): 30% of the ordinary financing.
- Specific activities: 8,864,248 pesos per party, in its equal portion.
- Postal prerogative: 315,173,272 pesos.
- Telegraphic prerogative: 693,496 pesos.
Distribution among the eight parties
The eight registered national political parties are MORENA, PAN, PRI, PT, PVEM, Movimiento Ciudadano, and the organizations Construyendo Sociedades de Paz and Personas Sumando en 2025. Ordinary financing is distributed in an equal part and another proportional to the national vote cast, and is delivered in monthly installments according to the budget calendar.
Independent candidacies and women’s leadership
For the postal prerogative, 52,528,878.64 pesos are reserved, which will be distributed equally among the parties and independent candidacies that obtain registration for the 2026-2027 Federal Electoral Process. Additionally, each party must allocate at least 3% of its ordinary financing to the training, promotion, and development of women’s political leadership.
The definition of these resources marks the starting point of the 2027 electoral contest, as it sets the spending limits and the conditions of equity among political forces. For voters, the figure is relevant because it determines how much public money is allocated to politics and how its use is audited.
