Industry authorizes new electrical installations in Navalmoral, Mérida, and Badajoz

The Regional Government of Extremadura (Junta de Extremadura) has granted prior administrative authorization for six actions within the regional electricity distribution network: the renovation of sections of 20 kV underground lines in Navalmoral de la Mata and the power increase of distribution centers in Mérida and Badajoz. The resolutions, signed on September 3 and 4, 2026, by the Industrial, Energy and Mining Planning Service, are published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) No. 181, dated September 18, 2026, within section III, Other Resolutions.

The six resolutions are issued under Law 24/2013, of December 26, on the Electricity Sector, and Title VII, Chapter II, of Royal Decree 1955/2000, of December 1, which subjects the construction and modification of distribution facilities to the authorization regime. The competent body is the Industrial, Energy and Mining Planning Service, reporting to the General Directorate of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Ministry of Industry, Energy, Science and Territory, in accordance with Decree 221/2012, of November 9.

In all files, the public information process was completed, with publications in the DOE on February 11 and 13, and July 9, 2026, without any allegations being presented; the projects are also not subject to environmental assessment. The resolutions do not exhaust administrative remedies: an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed before the General Directorate of Industry, Energy and Mines within one month, according to Law 39/2015, of October 1.

Renovation of lines in Navalmoral de la Mata

i-DE Redes Eléctricas Inteligentes, SAU, with registered office at Periodista Sánchez Asensio Street, 1, in Cáceres, obtains three authorizations to renovate sections of medium-voltage underground lines in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres):

• File AT-9727 (ref. 2026062349): section between CT “Paseo Estación” No. 140501300 and CT “Chimenea 1” No. 903302157; 0.141 km of new line and 0.164 km of dismantled or obsolete conductor.
• File AT-9729 (ref. 2026062350): section between CT “Paseo Estación” No. 140501300 and CT “Parque” No. 140500660; 0.117 km of new line and 0.106 km out of service.
• File AT-9724 (ref. 2026062346): section between CT “Julve” No. 140500700 and CT “Romero” No. 140504780; 0.150 km of new line and 0.166 km dismantled.

The three lines are underground, single-circuit, with a service voltage of 20 kV and conductor HEPRZ1 12/20 kV 3x(1x240) mm². They run through municipal land on Paseo Estación, Plaza Sánchez Arjona, Calle Río, Travesía Mártires, Calle Antonio M.ª Concha (EX-380), Calle Numancia, and Calle Alfonso XIII.

More power in distribution centers of Mérida and Badajoz

Edistribución Redes Digitales, SLU, with registered office at Paseo Fluvial, 15, Badajoz, receives three authorizations to increase the capacity of distribution centers:

• File 06/AT-01788/18582 (ref. 2026062342): CD 46551 “Piñuela_1” at 15 kV, in Mérida; replacement of the 50 kVA B1B2 transformer with a new 160 kVA B1B2 and adaptation of XS fuses, size 25 A.
• File 06/AT-01788/18579 (ref. 2026062343): CD 46079 “Cerámica.Mérida” at 15 kV, in Mérida; increase from 50 to 160 kVA B1B2, adaptation of the LV bridge of 3x1x240+1x240 mm² and APR fuses, size 20.
• File 06/AT-01788/18588 (ref. 2026062345): CD 44548 “Cdat-Sub.Adelantada” at 20 kV, in Badajoz; replacement of the 100 kVA B2 transformer with a 160 kVA B2, new LV bridges with XZ1 0.6/1 kV conductor and APR fuses, size 16 A.

Conditions and processing

The authorizations require the companies to comply at all times with Law 24/2013 and to adhere to the submitted project; any modification must have prior authorization. They are issued without prejudice to licenses, concessions, or permits from municipal authorities or other bodies, and failure to comply with the conditions may lead to their revocation following the initiation of the corresponding procedure.

The resolutions are signed by Rafael Ramos Mora, head of the Supply Standardization and Quality Service, acting on behalf of the General Directorate of Industry, Energy, and Mines.

The reinforcement of these infrastructures directly affects the quality of supply for the residents of Navalmoral de la Mata, Mérida, and Badajoz: the replacement of old conductors and the increase in transformer capacity—from 50 to 160 kVA in two cases and from 100 to 160 kVA in another—reduce the risk of overloads and interruptions in the low and medium voltage networks serving homes, businesses, and industrial estates in these localities.
