INAGA authorizes expansion to 7,200 spaces for a pig macro-farm in Sangarrén
Por FactBox Admin

The Aragonese Institute of Environmental Management (INAGA) has resolved to specifically modify the integrated environmental authorization of a pig fattening farm located in the municipality of Sangarrén (Huesca), which is authorized for up to 7,200 places, equivalent to 864 LSU. The decision is contained in the Resolution of September 18, 2026, of INAGA, published in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 201, of October 16, 2026, with the official reference BOA20261016035. The announcement is signed by the Department of Environment and Tourism of the Government of Aragon.
The scope of the resolution
The resolution specifically modifies the Resolution of July 30, 2018, which formulated the environmental impact statement and granted the Integrated Environmental Authorization for the expansion project of the farm. The file was processed at INAGA with the following basic data:
- File number: INAGA 500305/02/2026/07666.
- Holder: Agroganadera del Flumen, SL.
- Affected municipality: Sangarrén (Huesca).
- Description: existing pig fattening farm up to 7,200 places, 864 LSU, with facility updates.
- Location: polygon 507, plots 7 and 8 (zone 1, according to SIGPAC).
The publication is ordered under article 64.3 of Law 11/2014, of December 4, on Environmental Prevention and Protection of Aragon. The full text of the resolution can be consulted at the document verification link of the Government of Aragon, with the Secure Verification Code CSV0U-6PL19-1VZBN TMREG.
Background and procedure
The farm already had an environmental impact statement and an Integrated Environmental Authorization since 2018, when the expansion project up to the now-confirmed capacity was authorized. The new resolution does not alter the object of that authorization, but rather introduces a specific modification of its conditions, maintaining the maximum capacity of 7,200 fattening places and the 864 LSU as the livestock load reference.
The announcement is included in section V of the gazette, dedicated to announcements, within the other announcements section, and is dated Zaragoza, October 2, 2026. It is signed by Diana Remón Galindo, Head of Technical Area III of Industrial Environment.
Other files in the municipality
The publication coincides in time with another livestock procedure in the same municipality. The City Council of Sangarrén submitted for public information, in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 191, of October 1, 2026, the application for licenses for a pig fattening farm of 2,000 places (240 LSU) on plot 39 of polygon 512. In that case:
- The promoter is Lorenzo Sanagustín Callén.
- The project was drafted by the agricultural technical engineer Joaquín Ballarín Larramona, with a visa dated February 4, 2026.
- The period for submitting allegations is fifteen calendar days from the insertion of the announcement.
- The announcement is signed by the mayor, Lucía Pérez Corvinos.
This is a different file from the one resolved by INAGA, processed through the municipal channel in accordance with article 77.3 of Law 11/2014.
Impact for the sector and the region
The resolution consolidates a large-scale pig fattening facility in Sangarrén, with 7,200 places and 864 LSU, within the Monegros region. For the livestock sector, it provides legal certainty regarding the environmental conditions of the operation, while for residents and environmental organizations, the announcement opens the door to reviewing the conditions imposed in 2018 and their update. The coincidence with the municipal processing of another farm with 2,000 places places the municipality at the center of the debate over the concentration of pig farms in Aragon.
