Iker Gastaminza assumes the acting mayoralty of Alegría-Dulantzi

The Alegría-Dulantzi City Council has appointed Iker Gastaminza Gorospe, deputy mayor, as acting mayor for the period between August 21 and August 30, 2026, both inclusive. The decision, adopted by mayor Joseba Koldo Garitagoitia Odria via resolution on August 20, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Historical Territory of Álava (BOTHA) number 98, dated August 28, 2026.

The appointment is due to the mayor’s absence during the summer period and is formalized through the delegation of mayoral powers under the terms provided in Article 23.3 of the Law Regulating the Bases of the Local Regime (LRBRL). The act took place in the mayor’s official office at eleven o’clock, with the attendance of the municipal secretary, Vanessa Domínguez Casal.

Delegation of powers

The resolution establishes that the delegation of powers will take effect from August 21, 2026, until August 30, 2026, both days inclusive. During this period, Iker Gastaminza Gorospe will exercise the competencies inherent to the mayor’s office in substitution of the titular holder.

The agreement also includes the obligation to report the delegation carried out to the Plenary Council at the first session it holds following the date of the decree.

Regulatory framework

The delegation is supported by Article 23.3 of the LRBRL, which regulates the substitution of the mayor in cases of absence or illness. The procedure followed by the Álava council complies with the provisions of the local regime regulations to ensure the continuity of municipal governance during the vacation period.
