Igualada approves the demolition of two warehouses in the Rec neighborhood
Por FactBox Admin

The Igualada City Council has approved the basic and executive project for the demolition of two warehouses in the Rec neighborhood, an action with an execution period of three months and a material execution budget of 319,241.17 euros. This was decided by the Councilor for Economic Dynamization, Urban Environment, and Sustainability via a decree dated October 28, 2026, and the announcement was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona on November 2, 2026 (reference CVE 202610162859). The procurement file is 1379/8073/2026, processed by the Purchasing, Contracting, and Fines Service.
The project was drafted by technical architect Antoni Bernadet i Solé, in coordination with the Municipal Technical Services, and includes both the basic and executive documentation of the work. The action affects two warehouses located in the Rec neighborhood, an urban area undergoing transformation, and the agreement enables the subsequent contracting of the demolition once the public exhibition process is completed. The decree bears the signature of Montserrat Duch i Solé, Councilor for Finance, Urban Planning, Internal Regime, and Coordination.
A budget of 459,675 euros including VAT
The economic breakdown approved with the project is as follows:
- Material execution budget of the work: 319,241.17 euros.
- General expenses (13%): 41,501.35 euros.
- Industrial profit (6%): 19,154.47 euros.
- Health and safety budget: included.
- Quality control budget: included.
- Total amount without VAT: 379,896.99 euros.
- VAT (21%): 79,778.37 euros.
- Total execution per contract, VAT included: 459,675.36 euros.
The execution period provided for in the project is three months, as stated in the first point of the dispositive part of the decree.
Thirty days of public information
The second point of the agreement submits the project to public information for 30 days, counted from the day after the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province. During this period, interested parties may examine the file and present any allegations they deem appropriate under the following conditions:
- Location: Urban Planning Department of the Igualada City Council, plaça de Sant Miquel number 12.
- Hours: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 14:00 hours.
- Online consultation: edicts board of the municipal electronic office, https://www.seu-e.cat/ca/web/igualada/.
Final approval without a new agreement
The third point establishes that, if no allegations are presented during the public exhibition period, the ordinary works project and the basic health and safety study will be considered definitively approved without the need for any new municipal agreement.
Once the action has been definitively approved, the corresponding edict will be published in the Official Gazette of the Province and in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and will be posted for two months on the edicts board of the Town Hall and on the edicts board of the electronic headquarters. The announcement warns that the agreement is an act of mere processing and, therefore, cannot be subject to appeal, without prejudice to the right of the interested parties to file whatever they deem appropriate.
The relevance of the news is twofold for the readers of Igualada: on one hand, it fixes the cost and the schedule of a public work of nearly half a million euros including VAT in a neighborhood in the middle of a transformation process; on the other, it opens a one-month deadline for affected neighbors, entities, and owners to consult the file and present allegations before the demolition is definitively approved and goes to contracting.
