Huesca declares the examination for Industrial Technical Engineer void

Por FactBox Admin

The Huesca City Council has declared the selection process aimed at filling a position for an Industrial Technical Engineer, electrical specialty, in its civil servant staff as void. The decision is formalized through Resolution 3823/2026, of 29 June 2026, signed by the mayor Lorena Orduna Pons, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Huesca (BOPH) number 156, corresponding to Tuesday, 18 August 2026.

The reason for the declaration of the process as void is that no applicant passed the first exercise included in the open competitive examination called for access to this position. The resolution also orders the publication of this agreement on the electronic notice board of the city council headquarters and on the corporate website.

Original terms and selection system

The position was announced through the open competitive examination system. The terms governing the process were previously published in BOPH number 218, of 18 November 2025, so the call had been in progress for almost nine months when the resolution closing it was issued.

The vacant post is part of the civil servant staff of the Huesca City Council and corresponds to the electrical specialty of the Industrial Technical Engineers corps.

A recurring problem in local administrations

The declaration of a competitive examination for a technical position in local administration as void is not an isolated event. The difficulties in attracting technical engineers to municipal public posts —with salaries frequently lower than those in the private sector— are a constant in medium-sized cities. The case of Huesca illustrates how the lack of applicants passing the filters of a competitive examination can indefinitely delay the coverage of positions essential for the operation of public services, such as the supervision of electrical infrastructure or the management of municipal engineering projects.

The resolution does not specify whether it is planned to call the position again in the future.
