Huesca opens grants of 13,000 euros for sports during festivals

The Huesca City Council has opened the call for financial aid for “Sports in Festivals” for the year 2026, with a budget of 13,000 euros intended for associations, clubs, and groups that organized sports competitions on the occasion of local festivals. The call was approved by Decree No. 5969/2026, signed by Mayor Lorena Orduna Pons on October 7, 2026, and its extract was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Huesca, number 194, corresponding to Friday, October 9, 2026, on pages 14 and 15, with the official reference BOPH-2026-194009.

The announcement is disseminated under articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and is identified in the National Subsidies Database with the code BDNS 934296, where the full text of the call can be consulted. Processing is the responsibility of the Department of Festivals, Tourism, Commerce, and Hospitality of the Huesca council.

Who can apply and for what

Legally constituted entities duly registered in the Municipal Registry of Associations, with headquarters in the municipality of Huesca and a preferential scope of action in the city and its municipal district, may apply. The aid is granted on a competitive basis and covers one-off sporting events held during 2026 on the occasion of:

• The San Vicente Festivals.
• Carnival.
• The San Jorge Festivals.
• The San Lorenzo Festivals.

In all cases, the activity must have been included in the corresponding official festival program. The applicable regulatory bases are those of the General Subsidy Ordinance of the Huesca City Council, published in the Official Gazette of the Province number 69, of April 13, 2016.

Amount and evaluation criteria

The maximum global amount allocated for the set of subsidies amounts to 13,000 euros, chargeable to item 08 33800 48000 FESTIVE EVENTS. OTHER TRANSFERS. The allocation is decided by a scale, with the following weights:

• Interest, tradition in the programming, impact on the city, and attending public: up to 35 points.
• Continuity and track record of the association in organizing sporting activities: up to 15 points.
• Type of activity, location, and date of the competition, insofar as they coincide with the programming of the Festivals Commission: up to 10 points.
• Economic cost of the competition and level of self-financing: up to 10 points.
• Sporting level and scope of the event: up to 10 points.
• Number of participating athletes and clubs: up to 10 points.
• Number of athletes between 14 and 18 years old: up to 10 points.

The amount granted may in no case exceed the amount requested by the entity.

Submission deadline

The deadline for submitting applications is 15 business days, counted from the day following the publication of the summary in the Official Gazette of the Province of Huesca, that is, from October 10, 2026. The calculation is governed by the provisions in the call for applications and the general regulations on subsidies.

The call arrives with the 2026 holiday calendar already finalized, so that interested entities know in advance which activities they can submit. For the clubs and peñas of Huesca, the distribution of 13,000 euros represents direct support for the competitions that provide sporting content to San Vicente, Carnival, San Jorge, and San Lorenzo, and reinforces the role of local associations in the official festival programming.
