Huéneja opens for public information a pig macro-farm with 1,998 spaces

The Huéneja City Council has admitted for processing the action project for the construction of an intensive pig fattening facility with a capacity of 1,998 places on land classified as non-urbanizable. The Mayoral Resolution of September 18, 2026, subjects the file to public information for one month, a period counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Granada on Monday, September 28, 2026, with official reference BOP-GRA-2026-187010.

The decision corresponds to the Huéneja City Council, which acts as the issuing body of the procedure as it involves an extraordinary action of public interest on rural land. The announcement is published in the Local Administration section of the provincial gazette, in issue number 187, page 71 of a total of 94, under file number 2026048518.

A 1,998-place farm in the Escarcha area

The project promoted by Beatriz Marín Muñoz provides for an intensive pig fattening livestock farm with a capacity of 1,998 places. The facility would be located on land classified as non-urbanizable by the Subsidiary Municipal Planning Regulations of Huéneja, with the following characteristics:

• Plot 74 of Polygon 8.
• Area known as “Escarcha”.
• Cadastral reference 18099A008000740000QX.
• Use: intensive pig fattening.
• Capacity: 1,998 places.

The admission for processing occurs because the activity meets the requirements established in Article 33 of Decree 550/2022, of November 29, which approves the General Regulation of Law 7/2021, of December 1, for the promotion of the sustainability of the territory of Andalusia.

One month to submit allegations

The file remains open to the public for a period of one month starting from the day following its insertion in the Official Gazette of the Province of Granada. During this period, any interested party may examine it at the municipal offices and formulate the allegations they deem appropriate.

The documentation will also be available on the electronic headquarters of the Huéneja City Council, accessible at the address https://hueneja.sedelectronica.es. The announcement appears signed in Huéneja on September 18, 2026, by the mayor, Sebastián Yebra Ramírez.

The legal framework: LISTA and its regulation

The procedure is supported by Article 42 of Law 7/2021, of December 1, for the promotion of the sustainability of the territory of Andalusia (LISTA), and Articles 30 and following of its General Regulation, approved by Decree 550/2022, of November 29. This regulation governs the authorization of extraordinary actions of public interest on rural land, the route through which these types of livestock facilities are processed on non-urbanizable land.

Publication in the provincial bulletin is the step that formally activates the public participation period and opens the door for residents, associations, and administrations to submit observations on the project before its final authorization.

The projected installation, with nearly 2,000 fattening pig places, is the action with the greatest environmental and neighborhood impact in the September 28, 2026 edition. The one-month deadline makes the announcement the point of reference for those who wish to voice their opinion on the mega-farm before the Huéneja City Council rules on its authorization.
