Hornillos del Camino announces a vacancy for the position of titular justice of the peace

The City Council of Hornillos del Camino has announced a public call to fill the position of titular justice of the peace for the municipality, whose mandate is nearing its end. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos, number 162, dated August 27, 2026, and opens a period of 15 business days for the submission of applications.

The decision, signed by Mayor Pedro Mayor Gil on August 14, 2026, is based on Article 5.1 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, on Justices of the Peace, which regulates the election procedure for these local judicial positions.

Requirements for Applicants

To apply for the position, candidates must meet a series of conditions set out in the rules of the call, in line with the requirements of the Organic Law of the Judiciary for entry into the judicial career, with two express exceptions:

• Be a Spanish citizen and of legal age.
• Reside in the municipality of Hornillos del Camino.
• Meet the requirements of the Organic Law of the Judiciary, except for that of holding a law degree.
• Not be affected by impediments derived from age-based retirement, unless this constitutes a physical or psychological impediment to the exercise of the office.

Documentation and Deadline

Interested parties must submit an application for election addressed to the City Council of Hornillos del Camino, accompanied by the required documentation:

• Copy of the DNI (National ID).
• Sworn statement that they are not subject to the causes of incapacity, incompatibility, or prohibition provided for in Articles 303, 389, and 395 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary and in Article 23 of the Regulation of Justices of the Peace.

The submission period is 15 business days, counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province.

Where to Submit Applications

Applications may be submitted through several channels, as stated in the rules:

• At the offices of the City Council of Hornillos del Camino, Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
• Through the city council’s electronic office.
• By any of the means provided for in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

The call, included in the Local Administration section of the gazette, reinforces transparency in the provision of a judicial position essential for the daily life of the municipality, as the justice of the peace resolves small-claims matters and conciliation acts without the need to travel to the capital. Residents of Hornillos del Camino interested in the position have two weeks to formalize their candidacy.
