HCC temporarily waives membership fees for entrepreneurs affected by the fire in Omiš

The Assembly of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) has temporarily abolished the obligation to pay membership fees for economic entities whose primary activity is carried out along the Lokva Rogoznica – Mimice – Omiš stretch, affected by the fire of August 13, 2026. The decision applies from August 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027, and was published in Official Gazette (Narodne novine) No. 100 of September 9, 2026, as decision number 1208.

The decision on the temporary abolition of the obligation to pay membership fees due to the fire in Split-Dalmatia County was adopted at the 13th electronic session of the HGK Assembly on August 31, 2026, and was signed by the President of the Chamber, dr. sc. Luka Burilović.

The decision is based on Article 21, item 1, and Article 22, paragraph 2, item 1 of the Act on the Croatian Chamber of Economy (“Official Gazette” No. 144/21) and Article 41 of the Statute of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (“Official Gazette” No. 67/2022 and 113/2023), and was adopted in connection with the Conclusion of the Government of the Republic of Croatia of August 20, 2026.

Scope of Application and Validity Period

The decision temporarily abolishes the obligation to pay membership fees for economic entities that carry out their primary activity in the area along the Lokva Rogoznica – Mimice – Omiš stretch, and who are obliged to pay membership fees in accordance with the current Act on the Croatian Chamber of Economy. The measure is aimed at remediating the consequences of the fire of August 13, 2026, in the city of Omiš and surrounding towns, and providing direct assistance to affected entrepreneurs in Split-Dalmatia County.

Effect on Existing Obligations

Until the expiration of the validity period of this Decision, the provisions of the current Decision on the Financing of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, which prescribe the obligation, amount, and method of payment of membership fees for HGK members referred to in Articles 1 and 2 of this Decision, shall be suspended. Thus, the burden of paying membership fees is completely removed for affected entrepreneurs during the specified period.

The decision represents a concrete form of direct assistance to entrepreneurs whose activities were affected by the fire in the Split-Dalmatia County area, aiming to mitigate the economic blow to local entrepreneurship in the city of Omiš and surrounding towns during the damage remediation period.
