HCC temporarily waives membership fees for business owners affected by the fire in Omiš

The Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) has temporarily abolished the obligation to pay membership fees for economic entities that carry out their primary activity along the Lokva Rogoznica – Mimice – Omiš stretch and were affected by the fire on August 13, 2026. The decision was made by the HGK Assembly at its 13th electronic session on August 31, 2026, and was published in the Official Gazette (Narodne novine) number 100 on September 9, 2026.
The decision applies from August 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027, thereby facilitating business operations for affected entrepreneurs in the city of Omiš and surrounding towns in the Split-Dalmatia County during the remediation of fire damages.
Legal Basis and Deciding Body
The decision was made based on Article 21, item 1, and Article 22, paragraph 2, item 1 of the Law on the Croatian Chamber of Economy (“Official Gazette” number 144/21) and Article 41 of the Statute of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (“Official Gazette” number 67/2022, 113/2023), in connection with the Conclusion of the Government of the Republic of Croatia dated August 20, 2026.
The decision was signed by the president dr. sc. Luka Burilović, acting, in Zagreb on August 31, 2026.
What the Measure Covers
By temporarily abolishing the obligation to pay membership fees until the expiration of the Decision’s validity period, the provisions of the current Decision on the Financing of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, which prescribe the obligation, amount, and method of payment of membership fees for HGK members referred to in Articles 1 and 2 of this Decision, are suspended.
The measure applies to economic entities that:
- carry out their primary activity along the Lokva Rogoznica – Mimice – Omiš stretch,
- are obliged to pay membership fees in accordance with the current Law on the Croatian Chamber of Economy,
- were affected by the fire on August 13, 2026, in the area of Split-Dalmatia County.

The decision was published in the Official Gazette (Narodne novine), the official gazette of the Republic of Croatia, number 100 on September 9, 2026, under class 025-02/26-01/2 and registry number 311-02-00-00-26-2.
The measure is direct aid to the local economy in the remediation of fire damages, and its goal is to relieve entrepreneurs in the most affected area during the period of reconstruction and recovery.
