Guitiriz announces a social worker pool by open competitive examination.

The City Council of Guitiriz publishes in BOP of Lugo No. 185, of 14 August 2026, the regulatory bases and the call for the creation of a temporary employment pool for social workers, approved by resolution of the Local Government Board of 3 August (file 1042/2026). The selection system will be an open competitive examination and interested persons have a period of 10 business days to submit their applications.

The pool, newly created and with a validity of three years (2026-2029), will serve to cover possible replacements of municipal staff due to temporary work incapacity, vacations, maternity leave, pregnancy risk or any other situation requiring temporary hiring. It shall have priority in call-ups, while the pool created by Mayor’s Decree 2026-0451, of 4 May 2026, shall remain as supplementary. The call, signed in Guitiriz on 6 August 2026 by the mayor, Marisol Morandeira Morandeira, is published with reference R. 2171.

Positions and functions

The selected personnel will perform the duties inherent to the social worker positions set out in the municipal job descriptions, with the following characteristics:

• Record No. 15 (code 19): social worker, group A2, with a total annual remuneration of €34,118 (updated to 2023, without seniority bonuses), assigned to the Social Services Section.
• Record No. 28 (codes 40 and 75): social worker of the Home Help Service, group A2, with total annual remuneration of €27,383.47 (updated to 2024).

Among the main functions are the direction and management of the activities and programmes of community social services, the issuance of technical reports, the processing of subsidy files and the provision of information, advice and guidance to individuals, families and social groups.

Requirements and applications

To take part in the selection process, the following requirements must be met:

• Be 16 years of age and not exceed the maximum age for compulsory retirement, with Spanish nationality or nationality of another state under the conditions of Article 57 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015.
• Hold a diploma in social work or an equivalent degree that qualifies for the practice of the profession, or be in a position to obtain it by the end of the application deadline.
• Not have been separated from service of any Public Administration or be disqualified from the exercise of public functions.

Applications must be submitted on the official application form in Annex I, through the electronic office of the City Council, at the General Registry (Rúa do Concello No. 4, 27300 Guitiriz) or in the places and manner established by Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, within a period of 10 business days counted from the day following the publication of the notice in the BOP.

Selection process and operation of the pool

The competitive examination phase will consist of two eliminatory tests: a first one with a theoretical part — a multiple-choice questionnaire of 40 questions, plus two reserve ones, in one hour — and a practical part, with scenarios related to the functions of the post, also in one hour; each part will be scored from 0 to 10 and a minimum of 5 points will be required. The second test will be on knowledge of Galician, graded as pass or fail, from which those who prove the Celga 4 level will be exempt.

The examining board will be composed of a chair, a secretary, and three members, appointed from among public employees of the same qualification group or higher. Once constituted, the pool will operate by telephone calls in order of score, with a minimum of two contact attempts; each person may work up to a maximum of 9 months until the renewal of the pools, and two express resignations or five unanswered calls will imply expulsion from the list. There are also justified causes — childbirth, temporary disability, care of relatives, among others — to request the “unavailable” status.

The call is an opportunity for access to local public employment for graduates in social work, in a municipality where the home help service and community social services need occasional reinforcements in the face of leaves and vacations. With validity until 2029, the pool provides the Council of Guitiriz with an ordered list of professionals to respond quickly to each call.
