Guijo de Granadilla approves grants for books and school supplies
Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Guijo de Granadilla has approved, by Mayoral Resolution, the regulatory bases and the call for financial aid for the acquisition of books and school supplies for students enrolled in the municipality’s public school. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres (BOP) number 0193, corresponding to Thursday, October 8, 2026, within Section I - Local Administration, with the official reference BOP-2026-4720 and the signature of the mayor-president, Marco Antonio García García, dated October 5, 2026.
Regulatory framework and nature of the aid
The grants are awarded through a direct award process, as there are reasons of public and social interest that justify the non-application of the ordinary competitive bidding process. The City Council links this decision to supporting families, maintaining schooling within the municipality, and fighting depopulation, emphasizing the importance of rural schools as a measure against the demographic challenge.
The call is governed by its own bases, by the Budget Execution Bases of the municipality, by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, by Royal Decree 887/2006, of July 21, and by Law 39/2015, of October 1, on Common Administrative Procedure. Funding comes from budget item 323.480.00 of the Municipal Budget for the 2026 fiscal year.
Amounts and recipients
- 400 euros per student for the 2025/2026 school year, aimed at the 16 students enrolled in the center.
- 500 euros per student for the 2026/2027 school year, for the 17 students enrolled.
- One application may be submitted per student, and those who have been enrolled in both school years may request both grants in a single application.
- Management shall be the responsibility of the father, mother, or legal representative of the minor.
Eligible expenses include textbooks, supplementary reading books, and exam preparation books, as well as writing materials, paper and notebooks, organization, drawing and art supplies, office supplies, backpacks, calculators, clothing and footwear for attending school, sports equipment, and musical instruments and sheet music. Expenses unrelated to educational purposes are excluded.
Deadline, applications, and documentation
The deadline for submitting applications is fifteen business days from the day following the publication of the bases in the BOP. Requests are formalized using the Annex I model and submitted to the General Registry of the City Council, via its electronic office, or through any of the means provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015.
The following must be provided along with the application:
- Photocopy of the ID (DNI) of the father, mother, or legal representative.
- Photocopy of the family book or documentation proving legal representation.
- Certificate of ownership of the bank account where the aid will be received.
- Responsible declaration (Annex II).
The City Council will officially verify the student’s enrollment. Once the deadline has passed, provisional lists will be published stating the reasons for exclusion, and interested parties will have ten business days to correct any defects.
Resolution, payment, and appeals
The call will be resolved within a maximum period of three months from the day following the closing of the application period. The resolution will detail the first and last names of the beneficiary students and the amount granted, as well as those denied and the reason, and will be made public on the notice board and on the municipal electronic office.
Payment will be made via bank transfer to an account held by the father, mother, or legal guardian of the student. Failure to comply with the obligations will lead to the opening of a file for the reimbursement of the grant.
Against the resolution, which ends the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months.
The call represents direct financial support for families in the municipality during a school year marked by the rising cost of school supplies, and reinforces the municipal strategy to stabilize the population by keeping the public school alive. With 33 potential grants between both courses, the City Council links the measure to equal educational opportunities and the fight against depopulation in rural areas.
