Griegos appoints José Ramón Lahoz Ibáñez as deputy mayor

The Griegos City Council has appointed José Ramón Lahoz Ibáñez as deputy mayor, replacing Daniel Martínez Sorando, who resigned from his position as councilor and the office he held. The decision corresponds to the Mayor’s Office-Presidency, which issued the corresponding resolution, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Teruel no. 180, dated September 21, 2026, with the official reference 2026-2690.

The announcement appears in section I of the gazette, on page 10, under the heading for the municipality of Griegos. The notified text literally reproduces the operative part of the agreement and is disseminated “for general knowledge,” without the gazette detailing the exact date of the resolution, which appears electronically signed with the indication “Griegos, as of the date of electronic signature.”

The Mayor’s Office-Presidency of the municipality is headed by Beatriz Santamaría Cortes, as stated in the announcements from the same Griegos City Council published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Teruel days earlier, including the one referring to the call for the position of multi-service operator (2026-2628).

The content of the resolution

The operative part of the agreement is limited to a single point, drafted in the following terms:

• FIRST. To appoint as deputy mayor the councilor who will substitute for the mayor in cases of vacancy, absence, or illness, in the order indicated below.
• Deputy Mayor: José Ramón Lahoz Ibáñez.

The appointment therefore falls upon a single council member and is not accompanied by an additional successive list of deputy mayors, such that José Ramón Lahoz Ibáñez remains the sole holder of the office in the municipality.

The resignation that created the vacancy

The origin of the change in the governing team is the resignation submitted by Daniel Martínez Sorando, who until that moment was a councilor and, additionally, deputy mayor. The official announcement expressly links both circumstances: the resolution on the appointment of deputy mayors is issued “given the resignation submitted by councilor Mr. Daniel Martínez Sorando, who also held the position of Deputy Mayor.”

With the resignation, the municipal corporation loses one of its members and the deputy mayoralty becomes vacant, forcing the Mayor’s Office-Presidency to reorganize the substitution through a new resolution.

Publication and effects

The agreement is formalized as a resolution of the Mayor’s Office-Presidency and is transferred to the Official Gazette of the Province of Teruel for publicity, with announcement number 2026-2690 and the electronic validation code accompanying the document.

Publication in the provincial bulletin is the ordinary channel through which municipal organization agreements are brought to general knowledge, ensuring that the appointment is documented and accessible to any resident or interested party.

The change directly affects the functioning of the municipal government of Griegos: the deputy mayor is the figure called upon to assume the functions of the mayor’s office when it becomes vacant or when the holder is absent or ill. With the appointment of José Ramón Lahoz Ibáñez, the Griegos City Council fills that position and guarantees the continuity of representation and the administrative processing of the council.
