Granada announces awards for the best business initiative with 6,000 euros

Granada convoca los premios a la mejor iniciativa empresarial con 6.000 euros

The Granada City Council, through its Department of Education, Employment, and Equality, has announced the 2nd edition of the Granada Entrepreneurship Awards in the category “Best Business Initiative,” with a total endowment of 6,000 euros divided among three awards. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Granada, number 177, Monday, September 14, 2026, via the summary of the agreement of the Local Government Board adopted on August 28, 2026 (file 25430F/2026, reference BOP-GRA-2026-177007).

The contest, which is processed under a competitive bidding regime, seeks to recognize the work of entrepreneurs linked to the city who have launched business projects, and to provide support in their initial stage to contribute to their consolidation. The initiative is part of the Strategic Grant Plan of the Employment Area 2025-2027, within strategic line number 1 “Promotion of Entrepreneurship.”

Beneficiaries and requirements

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), natural or legal persons, who meet the following requirements may participate:

  • Have a maximum activity registration seniority of 3 years as of the date of application submission.
  • Be operational and have their registered social, commercial, and fiscal address in the city of Granada.
  • Present an original, disruptive business project or initiative with a high component of innovation and creativity.
  • Be up to date with tax obligations and Social Security, and have no tax debts or sanctions with the Granada City Council.
  • Not be subject to the causes of prohibition for receiving grants under Article 13 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Grants.
  • Not have been winners of these awards in previous editions with the same project or one that is substantially identical.

Amount of the awards

The economic endowment of the call amounts to 6,000 euros, distributed across three prizes:

  • First prize: 3,000 euros.
  • Second prize: 2,000 euros.
  • Third prize: 1,000 euros.

The expenditure is charged to the budget application 0202 43300 47900 “Awards for business development” of program 43300 “Employment and Business Development” of the 2026 municipal budget. The prizes are considered justified at the time of their granting, in accordance with Article 30.7 of Law 38/2003, and are compatible with other aid or grants for the same purpose.

Deadline and method of submission

The application period opens the day following the publication of the summary in the BOP of Granada and will remain open until October 26, 2026. Applications shall be submitted electronically through the electronic office of the Granada City Council, via the general instance or application procedure, in accordance with the mandatory form in Annex I of the call.

The regulatory bases were approved by agreement of the Plenary of the Granada City Council on July 31, 2026, and the competition is further governed by Law 38/2003, Royal Decree 887/2006, the LPACAP, the LRJSP, the municipal General Grants Ordinance, and the Strategic Grants Plan of the Employment Area 2025-2027.

The call represents a new boost to the business fabric of Granada, rewarding new local companies in their most vulnerable stage and fostering an entrepreneurial culture among the city’s society. For recently created SMEs, these awards represent both public recognition and direct economic support for their consolidation.
