Granada authorizes the 220 kilovolt Saleres–Gabias and Órgiva line
Por FactBox Admin

The Territorial Delegation of Economy, Finance and European Funds and of University, Industry, Energy and Innovation in Granada has granted prior administrative and construction authorization for the new 220 kV Saleres–Gabias/Órgiva electric power transmission line, which will run through the municipal boundaries of Padul, El Valle, and Villamena, in the province of Granada. The decision, dated October 8, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) no. 202, of October 19, 2026, under section 3. Other provisions, with text no. 13437. The official text spans eight pages and is processed under case file number PP. 1949/2026.
The authorization is signed by the Granada Territorial Delegation of the sector, which depends on the Ministry of University, Industry, Energy and Innovation of the Junta de Andalucía, the competent body to instruct and resolve these types of procedures regarding electric power transmission facilities within the provincial scope. The resolution is inserted in the other provisions section of the gazette, the same section where the Andalusian Executive publishes administrative authorizations for energy infrastructures.
What the resolution authorizes
The regulation grants two distinct enabling titles, which are resolved jointly in a single administrative act:
- Prior administrative authorization, which recognizes the promoter’s right to build the facility under the terms of the submitted project.
- Administrative construction authorization, which materially enables the execution of the works.
- Official name of the facility: “New 220 kV D/C E/S Saleres to L/Gabias-Orgiva electric power transmission line.”
- Nominal voltage: 220 kV, typical of the transmission network.
- Configuration: double circuit (D/C) with entry and exit (E/S) between the Saleres position and the Gabias–Órgiva line.
- Territorial scope: municipal boundaries of Padul, El Valle, and Villamena.
- Administrative file: PP. 1949/2026.
The environmental background
The publication of this authorization is preceded by the environmental process. In the same issue of the BOJA, the Territorial Delegation of Sustainability and Environment in Granada publicizes the binding report granting the unified environmental authorization for the 220 kV electric power transmission line project and the Saleres 220 kV substation in the municipal boundaries of El Valle, Padul, and Villamena.
That agreement, dated October 7, 2026, and processed as PP. 1937/2026 (text no. 13337), covers both the layout of the line and the associated substation, meaning that the facility now authorized already has the prior favorable environmental pronouncement required by regulations.
Territorial Impact and Case File Consultation
The infrastructure crosses the territory of three municipalities in Granada; therefore, the resolution directly affects property owners and local administrations in the area of the route. According to the bulletin announcement, the published prior administrative and construction authorization does not include any pronouncement regarding a declaration of public utility.
The full content of the resolution, spanning eight pages, is available on the electronic office of the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía corresponding to issue number 202, dated October 19, 2026, under text no. 13437.
The publication of this authorization clears the administrative path for a 220 kV electrical transport infrastructure in the center-south of the province of Granada, a voltage level reserved for the grid that serves the system as a whole. For the residents and owners of Padul, El Valle, and Villamena, the announcement marks the moment the installation transitions from a project to an authorized work, with the environmental endorsement already issued by the Territorial Delegation of Sustainability and Environment.
