Granada approves a credit supplement to repair earthquake damage

The Granada City Council has given initial green light to a credit supplement intended for the repair of damages caused by earthquakes. The agreement was adopted by the Most Excellent Plenary Council in an extraordinary and urgent session held on August 28, 2026, and its announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Granada, number 178, of September 15, 2026, with the official reference CVE: BOP-GRA-2026-178006.

A public exhibition process

The file, identified as 2026/26414W for a credit supplement for the repair of earthquake damage, is now subject to public information. Interested parties may file an appeal or claim within a period of 15 business days, counting from the day following the publication of the edict in the provincial gazette.

If no claims are presented within that period, and in application of article 169.1 of the Recast Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, the file will be understood as definitively approved automatically.

The signing of the agreement

The announcement is signed by the deputy mayor delegated for Economy and Finance of the Granada City Council, María Rosario Pallarés Rodríguez, dated September 1, 2026. The edict falls within the area of Economy and Finance of the Granada consistory.

Budgetary context

The initial approval of this credit supplement occurs within a context of processing several budgetary modifications of the Granada City Council. The processing of these files responds to the ordinary budgetary modification procedure provided for in the local treasury regulations, which requires prior public exhibition before the agreements become final.

The approval of this credit supplement is of special public interest, as the funds are destined for the repair of infrastructure and damages caused by earthquakes, a matter directly linked to the recovery of affected services and facilities in the city. Citizens now have a period of 15 business days to submit allegations before the agreement can be made definitive.
