Granada approves the guidelines for Entrepreneurship Awards with 6,000 euros

The Granada City Council has approved the regulatory bases for the Granada Entrepreneurship Awards competition in the category For the Best Business Initiative, a competitive grant endowed with 6,000 euros. The agreement was adopted by the Municipal Plenary in its ordinary session on July 31, 2026, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Granada number 170, dated September 3, 2026, with reference BOP-GRA-2026-170014 and file 2026/3434C.

The call, promoted by the Department of Education, Employment and Equality, is part of the City Council’s Strategic Grant Plan for the Employment Area 2025-2027, within strategic line 1 “Promotion of Entrepreneurship.” Its purpose is to recognize the work of entrepreneurs linked to the city who have developed or launched business projects, promoting entrepreneurship, giving visibility to new companies, and providing support in their initial stage.

Endowment and financing

The total maximum amount amounts to 6,000 euros, distributed in three prizes:

• First prize: 3,000 euros.
• Second prize: 2,000 euros.
• Third prize: 1,000 euros.

The expenditure is charged to the budget application 0202 43300 47900 “Awards for business development” of program 43300 “Employment and Business Development” of the 2026 municipal budget. The prizes require no justification other than the accreditation of the conditions and requirements to access them, and are compatible with any other aid or grant for the same purpose.

Requirements and submission of applications

SMEs in the city that are up to date with their tax obligations and with Social Security and do not fall under the grounds for prohibition in Article 13 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, may apply. Those who have been winners in previous editions with the same business project may not participate.

Applications shall be submitted electronically through the electronic office of the Granada City Council, attaching an executive summary of the business plan written in Spanish and with a length of between 5 and 10 pages. The maximum period to resolve and notify the procedure may not exceed six months from the end of the submission period.

Selection process

The competition takes place in two phases:

• First phase: documentary assessment of the candidacies, from which the ten with the highest score are selected.
• Second phase: presentation of the project before the Evaluation Committee via an Elevator Pitch with a maximum duration of 5 minutes.

The Evaluation Committee will nominate three companies to compete for the three awards and will decide the ranking order based on the scores obtained. The verdict will be made public during the formal awards ceremony, which will be attended by the ten finalist and winning candidates.

With this call, the Granada City Council reinforces its commitment to local entrepreneurship, offering direct financial support to new business initiatives in their initial stage. Beyond the financial endowment, the awards represent public recognition that can contribute to the consolidation and visibility of the winning projects within the city’s business fabric.
