Government sets 2027 price base amount and raised base amount

The Swedish Government has fixed the prisbasbelopp and the förhöjt prisbasbelopp for 2027 in a new ordinance published in Svensk författningssamling on 29 September 2026. The regulation, SFS 2026:1779, is titled “Förordning om prisbasbelopp och förhöjt prisbasbelopp för år 2027” and is issued by Regeringen. It sets the two index-linked values on which large parts of Sweden’s pension and social-insurance system are calculated.

The prisbasbelopp is recalculated every year and serves as the reference value for a broad set of statutory amounts, while the förhöjt prisbasbelopp is a second, higher value used where legislation requires a raised base amount. Both are fixed for the calendar year 2027 by this ordinance, which is why a new regulation of this kind is issued annually.

The instrument is a förordning, the form of subordinate legislation the Government uses to lay down binding rules, and it is published in Svensk författningssamling, the official and authentic Swedish statute book maintained by Regeringskansliet.

What the amounts govern

• pensions and other social-insurance benefits;
• the ceilings in sickness benefit (sjukpenning) and parental benefit (föräldrapenning);
• tax-free standard amounts (schabloner);
• income-tested and guaranteed amounts in the transfer system.

Because the same two figures are reused in many different statutes, a single ordinance changes the calculation basis for households, employers and agencies at the same time.

The ordinance was published on 29 September 2026 as SFS 2026:1779 in Svensk författningssamling. The published PDF carries a digital signature and a timestamp issued to Regeringskansliet, confirming the authenticity of the text as promulgated.

The decision is routine in form but wide in reach: the prisbasbelopp and the förhöjt prisbasbelopp for 2027 will determine the size of pensions, benefits and tax-free allowances for millions of people, and the payroll and administrative calculations of every employer and authority that applies them.
