Governor's Office publishes registration requests for three religious associations

Por FactBox Admin

The Ministry of the Interior, through the General Directorate of Religious Affairs, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on Friday, August 21, 2026, the extracts of three applications for constitutive registration as religious associations. The notices, signed by the general director Juan Marcos Fierro Correa, correspond to Christian groups from the states of Tabasco, Chiapas, and Baja California.

The publication is carried out in compliance with the last paragraph of Article 7 of the Law of Religious Associations and Public Worship, in relation to Articles 8 and 10 of its Regulations, which require the dissemination of the extract of each application so that third parties may express their opposition. The three groups prove a notorious rooting among the population and propose an agreement to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in accordance with Article 27 of the Constitution.

The three applicant groups

The applications were submitted on different dates to the General Directorate of Religious Affairs:

  • Centro Cristiano Puerta del Cielo Macuspana, requested on June 8, 2026, by José del Carmen González González and signatories, with an address in the municipality of Macuspana, Tabasco.
  • Iglesia Apostólica Jesucristo El Verdadero Dios, requested on June 24, 2026, by Rasiel Pineda Hernández and signatories, with an address in the municipality of Palenque, Chiapas.
  • Iglesia de Dios en Cristo Jesús de Tecate, requested on December 12, 2025, by Plácido Murillo Llamas and signatories, with an address in the municipality of Tecate, Baja California.

Purpose and internal organization

The three groups presented bylaws that establish their religious purpose and their governance structure. All are organized through a Board of Directors and profess the evangelical Christian creed:

  • Centro Cristiano Puerta del Cielo Macuspana: to proclaim and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ; Pentecostal evangelical Christian creed.
  • Iglesia Apostólica Jesucristo El Verdadero Dios: to preach the word of God; Pentecostal evangelical Christian creed.
  • Iglesia de Dios en Cristo Jesús de Tecate: to hold public worship services for the preaching of the word of God; evangelical Christian creed.

The real estate intended for worship is listed under a loan-for-use agreement (Tabasco and Baja California) or a lease agreement (Chiapas), and each group exhibits the list of associates required by the Regulations.

Deadline to present opposition

Pursuant to Article 11 of the Regulations of the Law on Religious Associations and Public Worship, the abstract is hereby notified so that individuals, religious associations, groups, or churches that may consider themselves affected in their legal sphere may appear within the term of twenty business days counted from the day following this publication. The opposition must be presented before the General Directorate of Religious Affairs, where the file for each application will remain available for review by interested parties during that period.

The dissemination of these abstracts reinforces the transparency of the registry of cults in Mexico and guarantees the right of third parties to challenge the recognition of new religious associations. For the Christian communities of Tabasco, Chiapas, and Baja California, the resolution of these applications will define their legal personality and their capacity to operate formally as religious associations in the country.
